CV Joint Issue

I'm 99% sure my cv joint/axle is going on the front drivers side. When I slow down I can hear a knock like sound coming from the front left. Just looking for some advice before I get started. Any quirks I should be aware of? And as far as the piece that goes into the trans, does that just slide in or is there a clip I need to remove? I know pelican has a write up, I just didn't get to read it yet . I saw a good video on youtube also but it was 2012. Any huge difference?

I'm assuming I should stick with OEM parts.

before you attempt the replacement, I suggest checking the transmission mount. for some reason it starts to come loose the trans would sit too low and starts wobbling. give that a look

but to answer your original question, yes, there is a C clip holding the axle. I found it easier to use a ball joint separator. while rotating the axle a bit at a time, push against the housing.

Thanks! I will certainly take a look at that!

Anyone have luck rebuilding? I was thinking about getting an aftermarket one then rebuilding this one. I don't think I want to use an aftermarket one long term. I read a lot of horror stories.
