New Battery installed today.
Had a new battery installed and registered at the Chrysler/Jeep/Fiat dealership where I bought my car because I had it there for my free state inspection and they assured me that could properly register the battery. Total - $211.95. Is that a reasonable price? I didn't really have time to shop around and I knew the battery has been on its way out. As far as I know it was the original battery on a my 2012 w/ 40k+ miles.
MINI dealership when offering a special sale price would be more than that. However hard to compare price without knowing what battery they put in. Make sure they put the same size/amps, etc. If not it may require coding as well as registering.
I used the Carly app but had to purchase the "battery registration" add on. Worked as advertised.
Trending Topics
Cars with a negative battery terminal that have the IBS (Intelligent Battery System) module need to have the new battery registered (some say not). Do a search, there are many threads here covering the topic of battery registration. Decide for yourself. I'm not recommending one way or another. I had it done for peace of mind.
I don't have much to add except to say that my Canadian model Cooper S Countryman All4 which I had purchased used at a KIA dealership threw a check engine light until the battery was coded at the MINI dealership.
