R60 - What does this bolt do?

We recently had our Countryman's clutch serviced, and they forgot to tighten the bolt in this picture. We discovered it after driving a half hour and hearing horrible rattling. I was able to hand tighten it to get us back to the dealership, where they promptly tightened it.

I'm curious what that would've happened if it had worked its way out without us knowing.

(The pic is roughly pointing to under the engine compartment)

That is for the lower torsion mount, tighten it and your noise should go away.

You would've eventually lost that bolt, had excessive engine rotation on accel that can cause other mounts to fail, axles to see abnormal operating angles, hard shifts, possibly popping out of gear, all sorts of fun.

Seems like an oops worthy of a free hat.
