Blower not working - 2013 Countryman

I've got a 2013 Countryman and have had a problem a few times with the blower not working. It happened once last winter and it's already happened twice this winter.

The temperature will go below zero overnight (sometimes WELL below) and the next morning the blower won't work. Every other feature of the car works fine.

Last year they put the car in the garage overnight and said that it was a fluke and it was just frozen up. Fine.

A month ago (and they are currently trying to say this again) they told me it was the battery. And they replaced it.

This makes no sense to me. The car starts fine...once the car's running the alternator is taking over, correct? So even if there WAS an issue with the battery, it should only have an effect on the car starting.

The explanation given was that the alternator is diverting juice from other systems in the car and trying to charge the battery. These seems way wrong to me. And even IF this was possible, why is the blower fan the first to go?? Why not, say, the heated seats? Those have to be a much bigger draw.

My thought is that there's an issue with the blower motor or possibly the resistor. Has anyone had similar issues?

Do you have AUTO HVAC?

Is it set in AUTO mode when you start your car?

It is normal for the blower to not function until the car warms up (so its not blowing cold air around the inside of the car).

And correct, a battery issue will have no effect on the motor. That would be an issue with the starter motor only..
