Anyone have a OEM Ski/Snowboard attachment with the Mini crossbars attached to their CMS? I recently installed the ski/snowboard attachment onto the crossbars, and now when I accelerate to highway speed, I hear a high pitched whistling, and I'm trying to figure out what's wrong before I seek help from Mini. It doesn't happen when the ski attachment is off the car.

 

What are you expecting them(MINI) to fix?

 

The whistling ski rack..

 

It was hard getting that plastic channel filler provided with the rack to fill all the empty channel space. So I had the annoying whistling at highway speeds too. Enter the miracle of duct tape. Laid it over the channel on both sides and whistling gone.

 

Mini isn't going to redesign the rack for you.

 

Wait... MINI won't give me a free JCW for my brilliant duct tape solution?!?! But the silver duct tape blends perfectly into the rack.

 

Mine whistles too. Order two more black rubber strips and cut them to fit in the empty space on the rack next to the carrier. Should stop the whistle.
