Any idea on how to get it to reappear? Absent minded me, I dont think I ever saw it display for me.. I guess I was too preoccupied with the rest of the car

You can either hit the trip odometer button on the tach or cycle through the various options with the button on the end of the blinker stalk.

Thanks for the reply, I'm aware of those options. My question should have been more specific. I do not have the trip odometer in the bottom right of the display under the digital spedo. This is a snapshot of rockets21's spedo and he has the "267.4" whereas I do not. Is this a mod or standard display?

It's gone for good!

Hey guys - here's the poop...

All new 2012 MINIs will have the trip odometer re-positioned so that you must cycle thru the options with your left stalk controller to see it.

All older MINIs that require re-programming will have their version brought up to the current version that re-positions the odometer.

Reason? MINI/BMW wants to reserve that bottom right corner space for informational or alert messages.

See attached PDF I was given from my dealer. I brought mine in for a spot/rally light install, and the required re-programming had this effect on my car.

Thanks bentyyc (btw your R60 rocks.) Wow that sucks. definitely poop, I'd rather have data displayed there rather than a blank space the majority of the time. I'm used to two trip odometers available but this is a slight inconvenience. Scanguage II just shot up my Christmas list.

NO!!! WHY!!! (OK, i'M DONE THROWING A FIT)

Anyway, thanks for the info Bentyyc. We won't freak out, as much, now if any of us have to get re-programmed.
Will a dealer re-program your MINI's computer if you ask? Or is it only done if needed?

I believe it's typically an "as required" kind of thing. That said, re-programming seems to be the remedy for many ills (e.g. windows, etc.).

After the new update my odometer also moved to upper left side, you can see it when you scroll from BC switch.

Just had mine upgraded due to a radio malfunction. What else did this upgrade change that is not obvious to me yet? Thanks, BZ.

Interesting, I've had mine brought into the dealer a few times and haven't had this take place.

The dealer will only update software to fix a problem. They're afraid that updating could cause a new problem. Even if your car doesn't have the latest software, they won't update it unless it might fix the problem you complained about.

Yes there is a thread in here about under power, stuttering issue. Had mine done and running great. only problem is now my Nav is asking for a code to activate. Dealer gave me a new code but it didn't take.

I think programming the ECU is completely separate from the body modules (e.g. the stuff people are programming with NCS Expert), so an update for that may not affect your dash instruments.

Dumb Question
Is there any way to invert the Odometer and the Trip Odometer. So that you don't see the Odometer all the time? I like to see the Trip more than my overall miles.

No, but you can code it to have the trip odometer to the right of the odometer like before. There is a coding thread in the electrical mod section.

And I have u to thank for that. It was annoying having to scroll through the top menu to see the trip odometer. I also hated how mini locked the speed to the square led panel, had to code that sucker out too.

Does this coding work on a 2013?
Don't want to screw anything up.

Yes, I have done it and other coding on my 2013 JCW CM. All is well if you follow the instructions to the tee.

If you are afraid to do it then maybe you can find some in your local area to do it for you. If you were in SoCal then I can do it for u.
