Ha! I didn't even get a phone call today. I called at 3:30 pm before heading home from work, and my MA and his manager were both off work today. I talked to the service department and they said, "We have a call into Mini Cooper to find out what step they would like us to take next". Seriously? It would have been nice to know that nothing was going to be done today. Communication seems to be a problem this time around for some reason and no one seems overly concerned that this NAV issue exists. I'm starting to think that maybe they don't want to sell that car.

My phone is now sitting precariously on the rail or in my cupholder. This seems ridiculous for a car that is otherwise so well designed.
Isn't that iPhone accessory supposed to fit Inside the factory installed arm rest ?

Also are two different ones - each depending on the cars ordered accessories......

The snap in adapter for the armrest has not yet been released. They also give you a generic phone holder which clips onto the rail, which is what the poster was talking about.

This nav problem has me worried. If it's still not resolved when mine comes in, I may ask for $750 off the price of the car or I'm not taking it off the lot.

I don't know the part number, but I believe it just comes standard with the car as one of the rail accessories.

Well, countryman still in for service! They did all that mini asked and still did not take a stupid code. Even a Master reset failed to correct it. Today they're trying to put it back into what they call a "Transport Mode" after build is complete they pretty much power everything down for the cruise across the
Seas. Hoping this might allow another entry of thevcode if that indeed is what the issue is I do have a 2010 MCS to use until then & I forgot (had a 2007) how quick they are... Much more than the countryman even though the difference in HP. Still its killing me that I picked up the CM not even a week ago... This should of been detected & corrected befor I even took delivery

Flyer, I will be very interested to see if your dealer can get your Nav up and working. My dealer, as stated previously, has had this car since it arrived on the 12th. They've been dinkin' around with codes, etc. on the Nav since Monday and still no solution. I'm just in "waiting" mode.

Well just heard from the service dept...and they have tried everything Mini
Has suggested per there protocol. And Nothing!!!!!!! Now they need to wait and hear back from Mini on what's next?? I'm not sure I would of taken delivery last Friday if I knew the details. Last Friday it was a matter of just to re-enter or acquire a new code, that was it. Soooooo I'd think twice about it, as much as we all are dying to take delivery, it's just as hard if not harder to give it back less than a week later!
Keep me posted ... I'll let you Know if any solutions are found on this end.

I'm sorry to hear that. I'm sure they will come up with a solution sooner or later. They pretty much HAVE TO, or they are going to lose a lot of business because of this pretty major glitch! I'll keep you posted as well from this end. Hang in there!

Good News Countryman is back in my possession with a functional navigation system...sweet
Thanks to my MA for his persistence..and the service manager and his tech. for there diligence..kept at it. Anyways a week almost to the hour I picked it up my Countryman sits peacefully. And I was very concerned of its physical well being..All looks to be in perfect shape prior to this crazy adventure
Anyways...it's unseasonably warm...mid 40's but it won't last long, as winter is due back in CT this weekend... so time to go play in some puddles before they ice up.
How did you make out Chugiakgirl ?

Flyer...what did they do to fix it? That info would certainly be helpful to the rest of us if we run into the same issues.

I think it came down to reloading the Nav. system the old fashion way..via the DVD drive as the software was not taking. Honestly..I think they took it upon themselves to give it a try...as thats how it was done in prior years. But did they get the Official "OK" from Corporate...I think not..sort of quiet in that regards..but thats what my MA mentioned. I know a follow up report has to be written up and sent. I can pursue it if need be, I know it was not a faulty code, but obviously some software issue and probably will take several (how many ??) complaints before they make software correction..at least that was my perception on things. Hope this helps.

Wow, that is awesome! Still NO word here on mine. I have had to call them myself over and over and still they aren't sure what the guys in the service shop are doing exactly...just that they are working on it. I wish my MA was as proactive as yours. I sent an email to the MA and his manager with the information you provided. I swear, if they would give me the DVD I'll bet I could get it to work. Sometimes being a tech geek has it's disadvantages. I have very little patience for electronic incompetence. Sadly, I fear that this weekend will come and go without getting my vehicle. It has been at the dealer for exactly 7 days tomorrow.

I'm sorry to hear your still without your baby... I was upset over not having the nav but at least i had the ride and only ... Now I can say it Had to give it up for two days. 7 days is a loooooong time, it's only a day or two for the follow mini protocol. Some one at the dealership needs to act on behalf of you...the customer. The sales made, now they need to follow through and put a bug in Mini's ear or better yet..nah never mind Seriously its tough to believe it's 7 days and still no resolve. Perhaps some prayers to the Mini
Gods are in order. Keep me posted!

Sooo, Now with my Countryman back in my possession, all updated and with navigation working, I spent a little more time playing with mini connected.
As I await the release for the phone cradle located in the armrest for the I phone 4, I realized that not only is bluetooth available for phone & contacts but for music located in my phone's Ipod. It does not show jacket info. like album cover or even list what song is playing but its plays...and surprisingly a nice sound via bluetooth, and you can advance songs via the toggle or the forward/back buttons on the steering wheel near volume or obviously on the phone it self. Not even my wide's new Ford Fusion with (ISync) will do that. I placed a call to my cell..the music mutes as the phones ring..and after call ends the music continues..Sweet!
Perhaps most know this already..I just haven't had the time to play with it as when the Nav. was not operative everything else seemed not to be in sync.
I'm not impressed with the current way to connect via the cable provided and the spring loaded holder is just to tight of a fit. I can lay it on the passengers side seat when the seats empty..if it were longer I could put it in one of the 2 front cup holders as I do now w/o the cable. A lot more control with it connected and charges as well...just a bad design. Cradle will work the best...Hopefully..
Chugiakgirl...I did a bit of dancing/rituals to the Mini God's above that a solution be found sooon Hang in there

Thanks for the info...that's really cool about the bluetooth and music. I'm at least glad to know that my recently purchased iPhone 4 will work well with it when it's finally up and running. I thought my Sprint account had another year on it, but apparently I was wrong...so I ran out and got the iPhone 4 with Verizon so that it would work well with the Mini Connected. Now I just need the Mini to be connected. LOL I talked to them yesterday and I think they know how anxious I am about getting my Countryman. I think they will do their best this coming week to get the Nav working. I just have to be patient a little longer. (not my strong point for sure).

YES! I have it!!! YAAAAAY! I picked it up this afternoon. Apparently the code problem was that since this had the 2011 Nav system in it, but they were issuing 2010 codes, they didn't match. Seems silly now, but once they got that figured out, it was a simple matter. I do love the Mini Connected interface and the Nav is really nice. I feel like the ride is much smoother than my MCS. I guess it's still small, but it feels gigantic compared to my little Mini. I love those lounge leather seats as well. AHHHH. Hey, I was also pleasantly surprised to see that it plays videos (while in park) from my iPhone. COOL!

Others have reported that the sound and video isn't synced during video playback.

Have you seen this in yours?

No, I haven't seen that...yet. It all seemed synced fine when I watched about 10 minutes of video from my iPhone. Hope that remains true.

As I noted in another thread that deals specifically with Nav/Conected/Telephony, the audio is out of sync with the video when playing videos from my iPad. At least one other forum member noted same behavior. Check to see that spoken words match lip movement.

What does everyone think about the iPhone cradle that comes with the Countryman? I'm not too thrilled with it. It's a real pain to get your iPhone in and out of it. Does anyone have any better solution for an iPhone holder? Also, with the split rail, I'm finding that there's not a lot of room for much of anything to fit on the rails. The armrest can't be moved, can it?

From what I saw at the dealership, it didn't look like it. I guess it has to be permanent since there's a phone docking option (right?). I was hoping it snapped in like the other rail accessories and could be moved/removed at any time (or moved to the rear seats!). Hopefully an aftermarket armrest will come out that works this way.
