R60 JCW Countryman - Premier
I wish we could get a straight answer on the All4 system! Another thread here had an article from the supposed designer off the All4 system. He stated that the system starts out at 50/50 and diverts power to mostly the front wheels the faster the car travels. This article is to the contrary??!!
That said....... WANT!!!
That interior is amazing!!!

The John Cooper Works Countryman is also the first John Cooper Works model available for order with a six-speed automatic gearbox as an alternative to the standard six-speed manual.
I thought this was interesting.

So, you feel it's more 50/50 at the get go? Or 50/50 as is needed by driving conditions? (Sorry for the high-jack!)
The countryman All4 is front wheel drive only until it detects a traction problem which allows it to divert up to 50 percent of the power to the rear wheels.
Where did you see that they claim it is 50/50 full time because that is dead wrong?
Just drive the All4 in snow, you will definitely know that it is full time front wheel drive until it loses traction and then the rear wheels kick in.

I'll have to find the thread but, it linked to an article about an interview with one of the designers of the All4 system. He said it is 50/50 from the start!
...I'm off to find the thread...

The press releases states:
I would think coming straight from the horses mouth is the most reliable source.
I have to say I'm a bit disappointed with the initial performance specs. 7 second 0-60 is not indicative of a performance icon. I'd say the Countryman really needs BMW's N20.
In normal driving conditions, the MINI’s intelligent ALL4 system directs all of the engine’s power to the front tires, and up to 50 percent of its power can be diverted automatically to the rear wheels when driving conditions require it.

If this is true then the All4 must start out 50/50 but very quickly divert all the power to the front wheels because my Countryman definitely is only using it's front wheels to power the vehicle on dry pavement.
Also in snow when I go from dry pavement to about 5 inches of snow packed road I can swing the rear end around and steer with full power on the front end until finally the rear end kicks in and I can feel the shift in power to the rear wheels.
Man I would have waiting for this if I knew it would be automatic ! What a surprise! Oh well, here's hoping for a JCW upgrade kit to give our current All4s a little more oomph! Well it saved me a few bucks I suppose...

So a manual JCW Countryman doesn't do much better than a manual Cooper S version on the straight? I'm guessing these initial JCW numbers are overly conservative.
That said, yes I'm drooling over it, but than again if it's gonna be $40K+ then I've made a wise decision for my wallet
