That looks good!!! The most annoying feature of the interior to me is the stupid lock/unlock button. Why in the world when you toggle up is that not to always unlock and toggle down always lock. It seems like I am always have to toggle the lock/unlock button multiple times because one door is the opposite of the others. I have never be more annoyed by one little feature. Overall I like my Countryman's interior, but all of those changes look for the better.
is see they still have that stupid e-brake handle covering the rail system. so there is still room for improvement for 2014
. what is that in the console that replaced the toggles? it looks like another cd slot. i cannot tell any difference in the cup holders. hey jmatero i like your cat. he reminds me of my Igor. he matches your countryman perrrrrrfect

2 of the pictures show 2 different sets of controls. Page 16, picture 138 & picture 140. 140 shows the new layout and I think 138 is the old (not having my CM yet, I can't verify).
I always felt that sport mode should be a toggle switch. Then I could add a red toggle switch cover.

it doesnt appear the switches have moved, but in another photo its clear they have & are shown in the door.
I see the Tach face has gone darker, almost black.
It looks good, a very nice improvement.
I think it could be lower for a JCW tho.
The factory rear fog was a nice touch as well.

The new interior looks nice. I think the smaller gauge surrounds are an improvement, and the window switches in the doors looks like quality items. That being said, the toggle switches for window controls are practically a MINI tradermark so I feel the new version is watering down the funkiness and quirkiness of the car.
I wonder if these more BMW like window controls are a result of the cup holder mutiny. As a product manager, this is how it could have gone down over in Oxford:
- MINI US Sales liaison: The Yanks are complaining that the cup holder in the CM is too small.
- MINI CM Product Manager: But why? It's perfectly fine for a mormal can of Coca Cola or a cup of the Starbucks coffee they fancy so much.
- MINI US Sales liaison: Yes, but there is also something called a Big Gulp. The cup holder is not able to accomodate it and the forums are on fire as a result. We cannot have this bad publicity for our bigger MINI meant for bigger people and their families.
- MINI CM Product Manager: Let me see what I can come up with during the next update.
a few months go by:
- MINI CM Product Manager: I have a fix for the cup holder problem. We shall relocate the window controls to the door, in a similar fashion as current BMW's. We will lose some of our brand unitqueness, but the cup holders will now hold larger beverages.
- MINI US Sales liaison: Thank you!
I'm a little sad

Also, are the airvent and instrument surrounds that much smaller? Or is it a combination of the chrome accents and black color line in 2 parts?

Anyone ever see a conversion for the ebrake to a more traditional single arm/pushbutton set up?
How hard can that be?
What I'm wondering is...is the mickey mouse center going to be blacked out or still grey? To me in a few pictures it looks darker more black and then other pictures it looks the same grey. If they are black that will save on me painting mine.

Is it me, or do the seats appear to have longer leg support?
Those pictures are a mixture of the old JCW pictures that have been around for a while and new ones that just came out. The new ones are the ones where there are changes. I suspect that the interior piece color changes are probably a JCW thing.
Also note that Mickey was two different colors from the on set of the CM, but I'm not sure he still is. Justa CM came a very nice dark silver/gray and the S came in a somewhat less nice silver. Odd that the less expensive model had the more expensive looking trim. IMHO.
Score another one for the "Justafieds"...Woot....DIY Oil changes are much easier too!
I don't like how they got rid of the door pull and subbed it for a bigger armrest with a cubby that will just collect dust. Putting a hole where the bank of buttons used to be looks dumb too. MORE dust collecting...and trying to make Mickey disappear is just wrong. Aren't we all kids at heart hence buying a MINI?
