Hi, everyone! Today I decided to research the reason as to why I could not get the lower half of my parking/fog lights to function. Then I realized that it's because I do not have the front fog lights option! Duh! Although I'm a little disappointed--I mean, if you're not going to emphasize the absence of fog lights with two large gaping holes (the configurator made it seem this would be the case if you opted not to have fog lights), then I deserve fully functional parking/fog lights (false hope, I say!!!)--I was wondering if they could be installed...? If not, that's okay! The issue isn't too deep...I hope. Though I would have loved to have them for added safety considering I did not get Xenons.
Well, I'm just going to discontinue this thread by saying that I have finally found the answer to my question. I will try to ask my MA on Monday how much would the installation of front fog lights cost, though my hopes for a quick and cheap process will not be incredibly high! Still though, I'm going to ask, just to be curious.
I have no idea where you are (please add your location to your profile) but in most states, fog/auxiliary lights are illegal 99% of the time. They certainly are here in Oregon, with a $287 ticket to boot. In addition, fog lights only help you when it's dark & foggy. So unless you drive in the fog at night, I wouldn't bother.
Hmm, so the actual housing is there but you do not have fog lights, interesting. I've never seen a Justa Cooper CM up close, but on the other Justas (coupe, clubman, conv.) if there is no fog lights its missing the whole housing and instead you have a piece of plastic there. Thats also how it looks in the configuration for the CM, do you have a close up picture, does it have a bulb or something filling the bulb hole?

I live in southern Alabama. Although I'm not quite sure if fog lights are legal in my state, I have, from time to time, spotted cars driven with their fog lights on. Just a couple of nights ago, I spotted a Nissan Altima with its fog lights on as well. So I can only assume that they're not illegal And if they are...well...my neighborhood officially sucks in the policing department

You can see that the lower half of the light seems opaque and solid. No reflectors or anything. Because of the configurator, I thought that CMs without the fog light option would only have holes where the lights should be, but, when I thought about it, I realized that that would look pretty crazy on a car this size -___- So that explains the full housing instead of nothing.
If they are available from the factory as fog lights most likely they are not illegal. Most of these lights only are on with low beam and are low wattage.
My understanding is that when you add driving lamps...the bugeye types on the front bumper are illegal in many states.
You should be able to change the housing to foglights...but being in a Mini it will not be cheap. Any quality car alarm, remote start, or stereo installer should be less than the dealer for install and you can buy the parts online.

False. According to Oregon law, auxiliary and/or fog lights must be used like the high beam headlight system of your car. They must be dimmed or turned off within 500 feet of approaching an oncoming vehicle and 350 feet when following another vehicle. In normal visibility conditions, fog or auxiliary lights should be turned off.
Despite this, many drivers use their fog lights as 'safety lights'. This practice is not only illegal, it is also dangerous. Fog lights can temporarily blind other drivers, and focus the drivers attention on the road directly in front of the vehicle, instead of scanning the road ahead.
In summary, if it's dark, foggy (or snowing heavily) & you are the only vehicle on the road, use your fog lights. All other times, turn them off.
I do not disagree. However the great state of Oregon is more the exception then the rule...that is why I said most..not all.
In addition most of these standard lights are for more cosmetic reasons then true fogs...just check the wattage.
We decided to go without the factory fog lights. I feel as though factory fog lights do not illuminate as well as aftermarket fogs. I may get some yellow aftermarket fogs in the future.
I didnt realize that fog lights were such a big deal in some states. Everyone drives around with their fog lights in the NE.
Just need help with the vinstar installation . Specifically the wiring . I mean the wiring itself is easy enough to follow and they suggest to use the fuse box for the red wire and the black wire negative to the one right below the fuse box. Anyway long story short as soon as I connected the wires the light is on - drl which I don’t think it should be. I have not even turned the acc in yet. I know the car I have is an r56 but the wiring should be the same .
anyone can guide me what they did. I’d surely appreciate it
