Drivetrain Getting the power to the ground
Getting the power to the ground
I have a 2012 Countryman S Automatic with an RPM Stage 2 tune. I have continental extremecontacts DWS06 BSW 215/55R17. I was wondering if there were options out there to help reduce wheel spin. I live in Florida so it is primarily straight roads here so I’d like to be faster off the line. I’m open to upgrading to a stage 3 but would like information on reducing the wheel spin and actually putting the power to the ground. I looked online and there’s arguments over if you can put a LSD into the auto gearbox and was wondering if it was possible or not.
Any help or input is appreciated thank you everyone.

To my knowledge the general LSD's available from Quaife, Wavetrac, OS Giken, etc. are not compatible with the Aisin automatic. The Aisin uses different axle connections, has a different bolt pattern for the main drive gear and supposedly some different clearance requirements. There is a german company called Drexler that makes a LSD for the aisin automatic for the R56 which has the same Aisin automatic as the R60. The LSD can be found here on the manufacturers site. I was not able to find a current price on the LSD but some searching showed that it could be around the $2,000 to $2,500. There is one thing to note here, this is for the 2wd models only and most likely will not work with the All4 models as they have a different model number Aisin automatic transmission.
The other options for better traction would be better suspension and sticky tires (which will wear out faster and cost more than the DWS by around $150+ per tire). The tires you are using are great tires but are not truly a high performance tire by comparison to those that are.
