Smile RPM Stage 3 Tune - R60 S All 4 Automatic

I have a 2012 Countryman S All4 automatic with 163,000 miles (majority fwy/hwy miles). I bought the car brand new, and is the very 1st car I've bought brand new, but prior I Ieased a 2011 R56 Cooper S. The R56 is how I was introduced to Mini, as I was comparing and seeking a car w/ great handling (98 Honda Prelude SH (manual), 04 Yamaha R6, 85 Mazda RX-7 GSL-SE (manual). I loved the R56; but after my wife and I had our 1st kid, and challenges w/ a rear facing car seat the R60 was born into the family.

Thoughout the years I've modified and repaired the car. I won't go into detail of all the changes I've done, but may provide a list to the appropriate forum of those changes.

For the interior, I have pulled components from newer R60 models into my car, add aftermarket face gauges. I upgraded and added several components to my suspension to acheive the same or better feel of the R56. I have a wish list of other items I still plan to include both interior and exterior.

As the R60 is heavier and has the same N18 engine as its lil brothers I have been reading many of your comments in the background and I thank you for your pains and happiness through your love of the Mini badge to fullfill what the R60 powerplant should have been and can be.

Parts:
I replaced the valve cover due to small droplets of oil towards front of engine and PCV valve had tear
Forge Competition Intercooler*
Forge hot and cold Charge Pipes*
M7 Oil Catch Can*
M7 Intake*
BergWarner K03 43mm Turbo*
NGK 1422 colder spark plugs
CTS decat Downpipe (I painted and cured w/ VHT high heat clear gloss paint & added DEI 1/2" titanium wrap)
Exhaust & 2nd cat delete and install aftermarket exhaust tips (kept resonator)
RPM Stage 3 tune w/ sport button option and requested no backfire

I have an ODBII bluetooth and piggyback w/ Torque app to capture what my R60 is managing. Today is the 2nd day since I installed the RPM tune and from my inital 2 tests I am very happy w/ the results and enjoyed the spirited runs! I was not able to go full throttle for longer distances due to heavier than normal traffic, but the 1st run 238hp/258t and 2nd 240hp/238t @ 23psi boost. I hope to have better road conditions and improved numbers as the car wants to go. In booth normal and sport mode (daily driven 99%) the power is very controllable w/ the gas pedal. As other members have mentioned before the tune is linear. I don't feel any loss throughout the rpm' and gears. As my Mini is automatic the ECU does not allow me to redline over 6.5k rpm and will change gears automatically. I would like to test when on 6th what is the top-end speed and at what rpm? The LOUDER pops and gurgles is still availbe only when sport button is activated, and is not heard in normal mode or when stick is placed to Sport mode. However, the rpm range for the pops and gurgles has increaed. Originally the sounds would be heard between 2k-2.5k, now I can hear from 2k to 4k, but the LOUDER sounds is from 2k-3k. Cold starts sound great! Wife and neighbors will know when I leave the house. I enjoy the power band and throttle response; for now, until I am ready for larger turbo and improved internal components. I look forward to local and up-coming long distance drives. =)) I do plan to dyno, and when I do Iwill post my numbers.

I want to thank Mario. I have researched and considered other tunes through the years, but the reviews I've read since his introduction to Manic and now RPM; is true! He could have made our conversations short and brief, but he puts the time and energy so I may ask him questions to the tune, and share ideas of my plans to my Mini. When I talk to Mario he reminds me of good friends who you can't see or talk often, but when you do its like you continue where you ended and can discuss many topics w/ joy, seriousness, and concerns during happy hour at a good bar/restaurant. I hope you consider him when you are ready for a ECU tune, or need parts to your Mini. Thank you Mario!

*installed by FAST Automotive performance shop, Pensacola, FL. A great team who prepared my cross country road trip (FL-WA-CA) and upgrade my Mini.
