JCW Exhaust Question

New here and was just at dealership looking at the JCW exhaust for R60. I see they have the intermediate pipe and also the rear muffler kit. Do you have to get both in order to work? Or can i just get the rear muffler kit and can install that on the R60 and leaving the mid section OEM/stock. Reason i ask is i am afraid if i get both intermediate pipe + rear muffler it might be bit too loud. Pls advise. Thanks in adv

Replacing the muffler only is completely pointless. The only difference between the standard muffler and the JCW muffler is the tips that get put on. If that's all you want, you can just get any tips you want and have them put on your car anywhere.

Really? Since i see they have just rear muffler only (JCW) for like $800. I thought it will be a different type of muffler (JCW muffler, better flow and of course the nicer tips). You sure? If so why do ppl get the JCW exhaust then when they can just get the intermediate pipe and or do the resonator and 2nd cat delete + add their style of tips.

People do that.

The exhaust does nothing for performance. It does make a throaty sound and add pop & burble. But the muffler itself is just a nice shiny run of the mill muffler with nice tips.

But it is nice. I know because I have it.

You don't think there are any gains from the JCW exhaust? Hmmm...might make me go back on my decision to pick that one up.

Still hard to believe is the same muffler but just shiny and makes sound. Maybe better flow IMO but still probably small gains
