Has anyone actually done an auto dimming mirror swap?

I've researched everywhere, and no info to be found.

I haven't yet pulled down my manual mirror to check what's going in to it.

Apparently we don't have the key receiver module in the mirror, so may not have any wiring present? (easy fix if so to just run a few wires for power and ground.)

I have an r56 auto dim / homelink mirror, but this would require the mounting arm to be swapped. I'm game for this - anyone know if it's feasible?

Thanks for any input!

Right - this is well documented for the r56, but not the r59. We use an entirely different mirror, and apparently our key antenna receiver isn't in the mirror. Hard to even determine if we have the same wiring.

Yep, the R58 and R59 copy the Z4 BMW design, maybe use one of those DIYs from BMW Z4. So thats that closest.

Good to know I didn't have to pay Z4 price to get the Z4 wiring, lol...
Mostly glad we took the weather package when we go the car. Didn't have to deal with wanting to install this :p

So, update, managed to source an oem auto dimming mirror... And the glass shattered upon disassembly. Sigh. Anyway, the wiring inside is impossible to decipher, can't find anything on the web. Not nearly as straightforward as the r56 mirror guts. From what I've been able to find, the z4 mirror uses a different key radio frequency
