I have an 03 mcs w auto dim rear view mirror. The coating is breaking down and will need to replace but would like to add the homelink option that wasn't avail for my year. Has anyone done this? How difficult was it and what did you splice into to power the homelink? Does the mirror unit itself just plug into existing bracket? Any info helpful.

 

My '06 had the standard mirror and I upgraded it. The wiring was already there. That being said, since you had the auto dim already, I think you just need the correct mirror for your year(s). Home link simply requires power the electronic module is where the buttons are. I think they made that mirror for your year too. If they did it like the later year the lead for the auto dim also provides the power for the home link.

As for mirrors, I am not sure if a '05/ '06 mirror will works as they changed the design. They might, hopefully someone else will chime in and answer that.

 

It wasn't an option for my year. That is why I am trying to find someone who has done the conversion. I know the mirrors are expensive w homelink and don't want to get unless fits/works without major modifications.

upgraded my mirror from manual dip to auto dip with Homelink. It was by far the easiest of all my mods thus far.
