It may be possible but only if the wiring harness for the auto mirror is in the car. If it is not then there would be a lot of extra cost in adding theh siring needed.

The mirror with autodim (and also the Homelink garage door opener) should be a self contained unit because it doesn't interact with the rest of the car. Therefore I believe all it needs is power. The wiring diagrams seem to agree with this. It shows the mirror having only two connections, coming from the fuse/junction box. If the car isn't prewired for the autodim mirror, I would look for another switched power source in the dome light/switch area.

you could also just tint the back window.

Usually autodim mirrors need power, ground, and a signal form the transmission reverse light.

The reverse signal keeps the miror from dimming when you put the car into reverse. (duh)

I added an autodim/homelink to my 95 BMW and had no issues. I havem't looked at the Mini, since t already has autodim. Now if we could only get the outside mirrors to dim, like my old Audi...

Ah, that makes sense. The wiring diagrams show the mirror connected to power (fuse F25), ground, and a connection to the junction box that the diagram doesn't trace further back. It would be logical if the third wire is the reverse light.
