Hello everyone! I need to replace the BATTERY on my 2014 Mini Cooper Roadster S (R59) and am a bit confused. On all sites I've been to the battery tools give me the option of "H5" and "H6" group sizes as options but how can there be 2 group sizes for my mini?! Which one should I go with? If someone could send me a link with the proper information I would appreciate it. Thank you in advance for your help, it's much appreciated!
The biggest difference between h5 and h6 batteries is their weight. H5 batteries are lightweight, but h6 batteries are comparatively heavier. This is why h5 batteries are mainly used for racing and performance-based use. H6 batteries are heavier and give you the extra capacity, and are better if you are driving in colder areas.
this chart also shows that the physical dimensions of the H5 are a bit smaller than the H6 so if there is sufficient space for the 6, the 5 will fit ....
p.s. don't forget you should 'register' the new battery. Failure to do so can significantly lower the life span of the new battery due to the IBS (intelligent battery system) which 'adjusts' the charging as the battery ages. You want to reset the system to 'new battery' and full charging.
