I really don't like the openometer... not at all! I mean why do I need a gauge that takes up space (and looks like a strange clock) to tell you how long you have the top down?!
I got a second-hand Tach from an R56 and migrated my faceplace, rear PCB and needle from my R59 onto the white subframe from the R56. But instead of putting the "modified guts" back into my original housing, I used the new housing to delete the openometer pod and put the R56 tach back into my R59 pod to keep them safe.
The result, no more openometer!
I still have the digital one I can access if I ever do want to see the hours clocked.... (doubtful).
The other benefit, my tach pod now has matching silver trim like the rest of my car - MUCH better visually, in my opinion.

I have done the same mod. Much better as mine is a RHD and the meter blocked the air vent - not any more :-) It was my first mod three years ago as I now live in a hot climate and cool air was more important than having that useless lump of plastic in my face.
Good job, deleting the openometer. I am trying do do the opposite. Do you have access to a can cable and NCS Expert? I would like to see your tracefile of the Kombi module if possible.
