R59 Passenger window one touch up?
Passenger window one touch up?
Just took delivery a day ago and noticed that while the driver side window can go up and down with one touch of the switch, the passenger side only goes down with one touch, I have to keep holding the button in order for it to go all the way up. Does it have to be coded for one touch closing?

I would expect you can have this done by someone. Helix did mine at the Dragon, but I know there are others. I've even seen people who will do it remotely, where you get the cable, either from them or get your own, and they connect to your PC remotely over the Internet and code it in your own garage.
Here's a link to their site which list current coding possibilities. I just shot them an email about coding removal of GPS disclaimer on startup and park lights as driving lights. I'll let you know their response you could email them about the window coding.
)I look through the list and didn't see anything about the one touch up (or down)...
I noticed that many of those codes are function you can change with the trip computer. Perhaps that's where the limitation is (?)

As I said above, you definitely CAN code it in for the R59, using NCSExpert at least. Whether this BMWhat? app allows that access I'm not sure, but the setting is there in the car. I'm seriously considering getting a cable and having a go. The only wrinkle in my case is that I don't have any Windows stuff in the house, but I think it should run from a Windows virtual machine on my Mac.

That only tricky part is buying the right cable (it can be a crap shoot) then installing and getting everything to communicate correctly. Once that is done the actual coding only takes minutes.
We should setup a cable sharing program.
I do have the cable but it's just too much trouble having to learn how to code for just this small job. It's easier to go to the dealer and ask them to do it for me, though bmwhat is an intriguing option.
On the other hand "I" personally plan to keep the car for a long time (perhaps 10 years at least), soooo I wouldn't mind diving into NCSExpert. But it would be a big help for a newbie like me (and I'm use to computers and fussing with them so that's not the issue) if someone could sum up the actual hardware I would need specifically, and the latest version to date of the software or softwares I would need to get started... I could even get a cheap, inexpensive computer or tablet I could setup so as I change computers over time I could keep this dedicated computer for the MINI programming, monitoring only...
Having said all this I have no idea what I'd be getting into which has me going back to the vary beginning of keeping it simple
In a way that's what I'm thinking . . .

From what I have learned you could get a fairly inexpensive bluetooth obd scanner, connect it to your android phone and use bmwhat to code. Sounds too good to be true. I am planning to borrow a friend's scanner next week and will let you know if I will have any luck coding the window. The only problem I can see at this point is the R59 is not explicitly supported by bmwhat but ecu should be shared with other supported models. Bmwhat lets you test if communication can be established with the ecu.
That would great!
I think it is more likely that it will connect fine t an R59. What is more unknown is what features/codes can actually be changed.

I downloaded their lite app and connected to my nexus 7 using my Bluetooth dongle that I use for Torque and it seems to work fine but coding is not activated with their lite version. Also when you connect and go into coding its pretty limited, hopefully by emailing them about additional coding they can add requested coding, have still not heard back from them but it is the weekend so I'll wait and see.
I've read on the net that the cable for coding with NCSEpert is $100 but this app is around $60( if you use torque with bluetooth no extra hardware required)so if they can add the coding you require its a win in for you and the app developer and on here all we know is winning

Is one touch open/close on the windows even an option supported by the app? I don't see it listed (am I blind?):

Why not NCS Expert?
I have the following impression, and somebody please correct me if I'm wrong. NCS Expert software is from BMW and includes all options available in the firmware. BMWhat is a consumer friendly software product that implements some but not all of the functions in NCS Expert.

I'm talking about cost and trial and error. BMWhat software cost $49.99 and a Wiki WiFi. It's very little cost to try and it's where the auto industry is going for people that mod. If mini people are buying the software then they will write more code if not then they won't.
