No pleasure from the pleather

For us North-Western folks it's been pretty toasty the last few weeks. It's been fantastic! Lots of top down driving for me....

....in stop and go traffic.

I end up with a back and, uhh *ahem*, behind so sweaty that it almost makes me want to put the top up. It's not that I'm really that hot, its just ZERO ventilation or breathing.

I'm considering a few things:

1) Having the entire seats redone with by a custom interior shop.
2) Having just that middle panel of leatherette replaced with something perforated.
3) Same as option 1 - but is there a way they can do this and install COOLED seats while they're at it? I looked a bit into this and if they could tap into the AC ducting somehow or retrofit in those heating/cooling panels that would be amazing - why on earth can't we opt for cooled seats to begin with?!

It makes me glad I didn't pay for any seat upgrades.

The 'Vest' works great, is easy to install and remove and is very comfortable in all weathers. We completed a 2 week, 4500 mile road trip and were danged glad to have them. Only had the top up on 3 afternoons for a spot of rain.

I am saving up for replacement if my seats next year. I'm going to order the red and black cloth seats from MINI. It's expensive, but I'm done with the pleather. I wish I could find a set if those old seat pads that they used to sell in the 60's with the spring and mesh.

I use this little guy when it gets really hot. Put the top through your head rest posts. No need to tie it in.

Boy has it been hot the last few weeks, even at 99 degrees no wet back...

for $15.15 just throw it in the boot when you don't need it.

I'll post some pictures late today,

Andy

I was pretty worried about the pleather seats when I ordered, but as I prioritized other options and they discontinued the leather that matched my dash, I went ahead and got it.

I have to say, even on the hottest days, with the top down...it's not that bad. I'm really not bothered by it at all. I'm as sweaty a bastard as you'd hope to find (or not), but I don't seem to have any particular difficulties with the leatherette making things worse.

We must sweat in different, um, locations.

My lower back and below are pretty damp after an hour long commute in the sun :\

Keeps my butt dry and is easy to take off and put in the trunk/boot....

Can't see it while I'm sitting on it.

For $15.00 what else can I say.....

Nothing worse than walking into wherever with a wet......

I only use it when it is really hot out...

Andy, I wondered about the same thing. Do the beads leave indentations on the seat?

Ever Consider Sheepskins?

I got cloth in my mini, but I have used a nice sheepskin seat cover for my Audi for years. I don't use it in the winter (I have heated seats), but in the summer, they are great. They also protect the seat from wear. Just make sure they have the proper fit.

FYI - Royal Australian Air Force uses sheepskin seat covers on their fighter jets.

Mr. T and Tampadave..

They leave little indentations and a bit of dust, kinda like saw dust.

I wipe the seat with a damp cloth and the indentions and dust are gone...
