Production Amounts

Does anyone know how many 2012 MINI Roadsters were built/sold in the US? Is there a certain number planned for 2013?

It seems like dealerships have like one or two max for sale. I just ordered a 2013 last month, as there were only nine in So Cal and none of them lived up to my fully-loaded standards (Plus it's kinda fun to have a car built exactly how you want it!)

I have only seen one Roadster on the road here in San Diego - and two parked in parking lots, so I imagine production is kinda low...but I'd love to know exactly how many are made each year.

Thanks for your help!

I've read/been told that there are 2 units allocated per dealer per month. If that's the case, you're probably looking at around 2,500 per year here in the US. Combine low production with a limited market segment and the desire to make it "special" (?) .......

I kind of like it that there are so few, makes it turn more heads.

According to Motoring File 1,596 Roadsters have been sold for YTD Sept. 2012.

Special, but not 'short bus' special. Actually, we're all special and smart -- smart enough to buy MINI Cooper Roadsters!

I wonder how many of those are JCW's? I still haven't seen one on the road except for at a couple at MTTS that Corporate personnel were driving.

WTH? According to that there are more JCW Roadsters than S Roadsters? Is that true???? .3% S roadsters, and .4% JCW Roadsters. And what is this .4% of? There's no hard number listed for total production.

Interesting that so far the S Roadster is the third most ordered model for 2013 with 7.5%.
