Maybe I am missing something obvious here, but what is the black fin-like thing on top of the boot? I do not have sat or nav - is this some kind of antennae? If it's not integral to anything I may look into a way to have it removed - is there a way to get the chrome oval instead? Hopefully it's not some sort of plug that's keeping all the awesome in the car...

 

It's the satellite radio antenna and there was no way to NOT get it on the 2012 models. Are you sure you don't have Sirius radio? I thought it was standard?? I wanted to NOT get it because I didn't want the ugly black antenna on the boot but was told it was impossible to omit at the time. The 2013 models evidently allow you to finally not get it.

 

Even though you didn't get Sirius, you got the antennae. It's one of the things I don't get. Why didn't MINI go with the integrated antennae? My Fiat has just the one and it's better looking than either of the ones on the MINI. Go figure?

 

I've got a brand-spankin new 2013..no sat radio. Wonder if it's possible to remove and replace with the little chrome bump? I've got stripes that are cut to fit around the fin though...

Possibly BMW has a part number for this now.

 

Chrome does look nice, but you'll be asked what the chrome bump is for.

 

I wish they'd sell me a boot lid with no freaking holes so I can remove it....it's ugly :-(

 

Speaking of ugly things.. Since the 2013's all have the semi-auto top now, the interior circle where the manual top latch would be really needs to be chrome..

I have a 2013 no Sirius, but does have HD. I still have the hump right in the middle of my boot.

 

Does anyone know whether this part is interchangeable from 2012 to 2013, and perhaps where it can be ordered? I hate the idea of this latch not being chrome. The black plastic looks cheap.

 

I'd actually like a paint-colored oval bump thing. I have sat but I never use it. XM is pretty lame.

 

I was thinking of having mine body colored.

 

I want mine gold plated.
