R59 Black Toffee
Steven the new setup looks great. That's the wheel I'd use if 18 inch tires didn't cost 2x's what 17 inch do. I go thru a set of tires every year. Your winter wheels you had powder coated. How well did they hold up. The reason I ask is, I just picked up a set of 17's and am planning on having them powder coated next week, and would like to hear your thoughts.
Thanks Jack

Alta Turbo Blanket/NM Hi-Flow Induction Kit
I recently added engine upgrades. I installed Alta's Turbo Blanket and NM Induction Kit. I had a conversation with a Mini Tech about using an aftermarket heat shield. He warned me away from it with the following reasoning, it concentrates the heat right around the front edge of the top of the engine, resulting in possible heat warped plastic valve covers, and it's only adding more heat around the oil inlet. This got me thinking, as I know the oil inlet can get very hot and can begin to degrade/clog, eventually leading to early turbo failure. The Turbo Blanket keeps heat in the turbo, and insulates the turbo oil line. From what I've read, you can expect quicker spool up and small performance increase. That a win win.
Having the heat contained using the blanket, I decided to re-install my NM Induction Kit. I ran this open intake early on but felt I was seeing some heat soak. This time however, I'm running this with the Akrapovic DP and exhaust. The throttle response is great, and I'm enjoying the sounds of the turbo spooling up and the B.O.V. working. I'll continue to run this set-up into the warm summer months and see if indeed the Turbo Blanket keeps the heat soak at bay. Stay tuned…

Once again Steven you have provided food for thought. I really like the NM Induction Kit, and I look forward to hearing your assessment.
Based upon your excellent postings, I've ordered a Helix FMIC... it should arrive in a couple of days. I ordered it direct from Helix, as WMW doesn't ship to Canada.
Photos of installation process when that happens.
We are heading to the Atlantic coast of Deleware this Easter weekend
Also based upon your postings, I've just installed 18" NM Enginieering black rims with 215 40 18 Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3's, so I'm looking forward to a long trip assessment f the ties and the Roadster. I'll take some photos from that trip and post them here.
Thanks again Steven for your thoughtful, well researched and well illustrated posts.

Have you noticed less heat since installing it? Any chance for more pictures? I have been thinking about purchasing it but no one has posted pictures of it yet and its not exactly cheap. Thanks.
It's definitely keeping the heat down in the engine bay. The engine feels like it needs less time to warmup, and feels like throttle response/spool up time has been improved.

Hi guys, sorry for the late reply. I was out running a 24 hours event this weekend.
here is my $35 cheap trick:
the black spoiler extension is an ebay item, I measure the length for an ideal add on is about 41", then I ask the seller to custom the size for me. And a heat gun and 30-min later, you will have this. Btw, the heat gun is to soften the material in order to bent to fit on the original spoiler.
here are two more pictures:

I still love the carbon spoiler on Steven car but I got to work with my budget.

Updated Nexon Wheel
Here's a look at a wheel I co-developed with Nexon Motors. By co-developed, I mean they followed my design input. The difference between this wheel and the previous Nexon wheel is the addition of Alcantara on the top part of the wheel. The Alcantara on the top of the wheel feels great and provides excellent grip. I also love the way it looks…

I love the addition of the alcantara. I might have to order it for my GP. How long did it take to receive and what was the cost? Also, is that just a BMW performance shift ****? How does it fit? Thanks.
Thanks

Search Nexon Motors, their Facebook page show a lot of his work. Contact Izzy for pricing. They worked on my wheel over the winter. It took a couple of months as they had to develop a new process for this wheel.
That is the BMW Performance shift ****, it fit perfectly.
