It turns out the folding mechanism for the rag-top clips the seat belt retainer and rips them out. Hopefully this will be fixed soon.

I took a look at my Recaro seats and I have a couple of inches clearance between the top and the seats. I have to believe that the tearing has to do with the position of the seat. Our seats are back with a slight recline and at a fairly low position.

Are there any updates to this? I'm seeing similar wear on coupes at the dealer. It appears the strap attachment to the headrest area needs to be reinforced. The hatchback/clubman don't have the straps. I assume they'll have to replace the whole seat if that goes?

As I have been trying to order a roadster with the Ricaro seats, the information in the attachment seems to settle the issue that it is not possible and will not be possible in the near future.

Sunofabitchski. This is confusing to me.

I approved my Coupe order on Thursday of this week. I've not heard anything from my dealer since. Looking at the pictures, it's hard for me to tell what caused the strap to pull out. Reading the PDF, it doesn't say anything about the Coupe. In fact it says the convertible top is part of the issue. People on this thread say it affects the Coupe too.

So is it only roadsters that are having Recaros discontinued or Coupes too? If Coupes too, why when there is no convertible top to agitate the loop? If I can't get these seats in my car Ill be very disappointed. It was a big decision for me to add them.

Hello Lance,

I regret to inform you that the Recaro seat option will not be available on the Roadster.

A premium solution to the seat belt strap was not possible.

The Recaro seats are currently available on the R55, R56, and R58.

It is not available nor planned on the R57 , R59 and R60.

Best Regards,
Johnly Velázquez

Just got my Roadster back from Mini North Scottsdale and they did a great job of fixing the recaro seat problem.

Looks like a good fix to the problem , thanks for posting those pics.

The R59 w/ Recaros will be rare. I don't see too many in the R58 either.
