Have a 2014 R58. Left tail light malfunction error kept coming up across the speedometer. Sure enough the plastich on the top bulp was melted. Have been told this is a common problem. anywhoo replaced whole unit. With all the lights now working. Problem is it keeps telling me of a malfunction. Is this a code that has to be cleared?

 

You could just simply run a scan and clear all codes and see what happens. You won't hurt anything, and it just might work.
