Good way to clean tail light "glass"?
I'm not usually a fanatic about detailing, but this past weekend while washing my MINI, I discovered that the tail light "glass" (actually plastic) on both sides of my car was very finely scratched and pitted. Almost as if it had been worked over with very fine steel wool!
Now, I know that I've never washed these surfaces with anything that would scratch them...and the rest of the finish on my car is fine. My guess is that this is a result of the huge amount of road debris thrown up on the rear of the MINI, and the unusually bad winter this year (which resulted in most of the roads around me having about an inch of sand still on them). But at any rate, my tail lights now look a bit fogged...and I'm wondering if there's any way to "clean" this off. Is there some sort of plastic polish that would work???
Barring a way to fix this, I'm now thinking of doing the tint film on my tail lights just to cover them up. (but am unsure about the legality of this in my state which is pretty rigid about state inspections) Help?

#17 Plastic Cleaner is the cleaner portion of this combination. It safely and effectively gets the grime off the surface and pulls the dirt out of tiny hairline scratches. #10 Plastic Polish can then add the finishing touches. It is an outstanding polish for all clear plastics – even the soft variety. The polish fills in any minor imperfections and rounds the edges so that they seem to disappear. You’ll never get a haze with either product.
Each is an 8 oz. bottle is about $8 at your local car parts store.
