Windshield stone strikes

Anybody else out there get multiple stone strikes on their windshield ? My past two Minis including my new Coupe have had several stone strikes leading to big chips and windshield replacements.

It seems pretty common on the Mini, I don't know why. I have a Tundra, a Infinity and recently a 911. None have had more strikes and windshield replacements than the Mini. Knock on wood, I dont' get one soon just for talking about it, lol.

It's the angle of the glass. Look at it compared to others, its nearly vertical so it takes a stone head on. I've had mine replaced 4 times and once on co-pilot's year old CM. Windshield insurance takes some of the sting out of it, $100 deductible.

I've also found that staying a goodly distance back from potential rock tossers helps too avoid some rocks. It pisses of the tailgaiter idiot behind me though when he can see all that space in front of me. Just think, I might get to the stop light before he does. That would really spoil his day.

Agree cheap glass, but I think it's actually owned by Nippon Glass currently.

I don't have rock chips either and I do the same. I mostly drive 2 lanes mountain roads and I keep good distance.

I even slow down when a stupid driver with a pickup truck thinks he is smart to pass.

in Norfolk where there are MANY trucks hauling things like gravel .... averaged replacing a windshield a year

in Cape Canaveral with NO trucks to speak of .... no need to replace a windshield in 10 years ......

I've had no luck with cracked windshields on my FJ Cruiser than anything else I've owned. Just this morning, i was in the left lane. Up ahead a bit and in the right lane was a logging truck that tossed a stone at me. It bounced off the windshield, leaving just a tiny divot. I thought at the time, that it took it better than the FJ!
