Coupe Spoiler .............

Anybody aware of any TSB regarding rattling coming from the spoiler or rear hatch while driving?

I do not know of a TSB
However, I did have a rattle from the rear deck that I thought was coming from the spoiler.
It was actually the removable cover below the rear window. One of the clips that secures it was not completely seated and would rattle.
It took a while to locate where it was coming from.
you may not have the same problem but the fix was easy. Just push the cover forward about a 1/2 inch until it seats.

Keep motoring!

I have always been suspicious about this cover. The big plastic tabs that go under the rear window trim never locked tight.

Take it out and go for a ride. Take both out in fact but one at a time so you can isolate.

I already removed these trim pieces. They are not part of the problem.

I traveled to California for a few days. It is even getting worse but I believe I found it.

The right black quarter window outside trim has one pad to the body panel and none at the bottom.

I am pretty sure is the rattling coming from.

Check the rear deck lid, both main and the one attached to the upper lid, mine has rattled and the fix was soft side velcro by MINI. And the rear latch adjustment / stoppers. My rear spoiler / wing does not rattle'

I suspect the top spoiler more than the mechanical one. My car sat in the sun this afternoon at about 114. The friction noise was clearly audible when I left the parking lot a few hours later and it toned down.

This composite spoiler is made of at least a few parts and it seems mounted right on the the rear window glass without any pad. It may cause friction noise by flexing at extreme heat exposure.

The dealer is not aware of any complains or TSBs.

The adjustment in that thread helps most problems, never hear of it that high up near the top spoiler, but you are in a hot area.

Well, nobody knows how to fix the problem because it is an economy car and being cheap, the dealer doesn't care about after sales market customer satisfaction.

I have been asked $80 for a tire rotation when scheduled for service as a courtesy to be pleased with my first dealer experience. NO, you pay or go to tire shop.

All sales people from a year ago are now gone. The dealer is Auto Nation owned and very arrogant from some service advisors.

I have the feeling my Mini ownership will end soon.

Sorry to hear that sounds like the service is dropping the ball, the JCW Coupe is not an economy car.

I would either go outside of Vegas or try to fix yourself or get in contact the Sin City MINI club , I know some of those people are actively DIY'ers .

Yeah Dube, I get the feeling you're not happy with the Mini since the first day and it's not getting happier. It's not for everyone that's for sure.

It is not an option. The closest dealer is 250 miles away.

They will have time to fix it. The car is in for service since Thursday and today, I have been told they will keep it for at least a week because they don't have the parts and they don't know when they will be available.

Most likely the latch

The rear hatch striker and latch are most likely the culprit. Have them replace these and you should be good. You can check by wrapping some electrical tape around the loop on the hatch. If you close it after wrapping it in tape and don't have the rattle/clunk, your latch is the problem. Easy fix by the dealer.

Thanks for your reply and tip. I got my car back yesterday and the problem is not fixed. I will make a try until it goes back to the dealer next week.

They replaced the RH C pillar outer trim and belt molding and I suspect they also tried to adjust the RH hatch hinge because now there is a big gap not even from top to bottom compared to the LH side.

Not related to the same problem, they also replaced both headlights and leaking axle seals during this first year maintenance service. It is just a bit over 7K.
