Doors and windows weatherstrips........

Is it normal for these weatherstrips to be very hard and not flexible?

Now, I can observe white chalking from friction that builds up where the side windows get in touch with the weatherstrip upper door opening. It seems to me like the inner edge of the side windows are grinding in the weatherstrips.

Furthermore, this chalky deposit doesn't clean off.

Any comments? Any recall somebody is aware of?

Also, there is a lot of dust coming from under the doors because the sills are always dirty. Is it a common issue with the aero kit on the JCW Coupe?

I can see the gap at the bottom of the door is pretty large and uneven going from the front wheel arch to the rear but there is no assembly issue.

It looks like its the way it has been designed.

Any comment in these two matters will be appreciated.

That's the residue from new weatherstripping. Just wash it off. Gummi Fedge will work.

There is no bottom door sill weather stripe on the JCW Coupe ( or Coupe / Roadster ) , like other MINIs. So it gets a little dusty. Wax the door jams ( they are all painted, even the door sills ) and this will keep it from sticking.

#5 Its on the door side. But I looks like it coupe work but I would not want it to rub on the painted door sills over time.

From the factory the door to the sill has a small gap. Compare it to another Coupe at your dealership and you will see what I mean.

Thanks

The bottom door weatherstrip.......

The purpose of a weatherstrip is to protect from dust and other elements so if it doesn't seal, it is useless.

As far as I am concerned, I live in the desert with no snow and no rain so it is not a so big issue. But for owners who drive during winter with all the dirt and abrasives on the road, It must not be pleasant to have the sills always covered with grit from the road.
