R58 When does DTC help and what did you notice
When does DTC help and what did you notice
I am looking into a Coupe S with DTC.
Seems like there are not many used ones with DTC and the JCW is too stiff for me.
Those of you who have DTC, when did you notice it helping you the most?
Was is during canyon carving, autox, or track?
Was it available in the S before 2014 ?
Thanks in advance!

I have DTC on my 2012 Roadster S, came as part of the JCW pack (wheels, body kit, red stitching, DTC). I usually drive after pressing the button once quickly, which shows TRACTION on the tach display. This turns off the stability control and leaves the DTC active, so basically you have traction control and no stability control. With this setting the engine power doesn't seem to cut quite as hard when it detects wheel slip, and it's a bit easier to drive quickly. If you hold the button down until DSC OFF shows then all you have left is the electronic differential lock which uses only braking to limit wheel speed differences.
DTC helps in snow. With DTC you get ELDC which brakes one front wheel if it spins more than the other one. It helps with traction during rapid acceleration and stays on even if you turn DTC off. It has been available as an option since at least 2010.
I leave DSC on when driving sanely on public roads, both DTC and DSC off when autocrossing, and I haven't driven in snow in a decade.
The stock JCW suspension is the same as the base and S. Individual used JCWs might have the sport, JCW, or aftermarket suspension installed just as a base or S could have.
