Can R58 JCWs still be ordered from US dealers? And other questions Autox / Track

So here is my story:

I loved my R56, the engine broke on me, I fell out of love. The dealer didn't rebuild the engine just replaced the valves. So I sold it to them.

I've been missing that car since then. I thought the F56 would be a better car, but unfortunately it's much softer than I expected.

I've been shopping for a Ford Fiesta ST to scratch my FWD itch, but it's not as good as MINI in my opinion for reasons beyond just raw performance.

Then the idea popped into my head: I'll just check into ordering an R58.

So can you still order R58s? What's everyone's experience? Autocross good? Tracking good? Can you fit with your helmet? I'm 6"1 considering getting the recaros.

Thanks in advance!

I have a R59. It's a great car, and am very happy I got it. Have all the bolt-ons and Ohlins etc. The car handles great and every mod I've made has been a positive addition. There is plenty of head room, I adjust my seat all the way down to its lowest position. As far as ordering one now, I assume you can as the configurer is still up but might want to check with a dealer to be sure. If mini kills off the R58 and R59 that would be a big mistake. The F56 already is not liked by some current owners and I could not onderstand why mini would choose to loose its current owners. I plan on buying a R58 or R59 in a couple of years when my current one gets up in mileage. Then I can reuse my Olhins and Akrapovic exhaust.

Northwest Mini in Fife Wa has a left over new 2013 JCW Coupe. Black with red roof. Very well optioned and priced to sell. I just bought one less optioned 2 months ago. Very happy with it as well as their staff.

nice coupe lordvdr!

I also just realized there are a few JCW GPs laying around. So either I can get the coupe loaded with the cool styling and mini connected or get the GP for track duty.

I know I can definitely track and autox the coupe but it won't be as fast as the GP. Not sure that I care though. Decisions decisions.

It will remain in production through 2015 model year, and continues to be in the configurator.

I've had my 2013 Cooper S Coupe, Bonnie since March 2013. I now have 22,000 miles and have added on an ALTA JCW 3" downpipe exhaust, JB+ tuner and still in love with her.

Imo, the R58's have a much stiffer body than the R56 due to them using the same body (from beltline down) as the Roadster and in addition have a hardtop roof to add even more stiffness.

My baby is at the body shop getting a ding removed and omg.. i so miss her; driving a camry at the moment and see why non MINI owners look so unhappy in traffic
