Question Crazy kid question

Ok this might seem like a stupid question. There is a 2012 coupe for sale at my local mini dealer with under 4500km that I'm contemplating swapping my 2008 clubman for but there will be the odd occasion that my 4 year old daughter will ride in the car with me which means that her car seat needs to go somewhere and since there is no back seat it would go in the passenger seat.

Therefore is there a method to disable the passenger airbags/ does it happen automatically for a passenger below a certain weight? She always sits in the back of my clubman (and loves it over mommy's car) but this coupe is really tempting me.

I checked the manual for my 2013 (p. 88) and it says, "Most child seats are detected by the system. This particularly applies to child seats that were required by NHTSA at the time of manufacture of the vehicle. After installing a child seat, check that the indicator lamp for the passenger airbags lights up. It indicates that the child seat has been detected and that the front passenger airbags are deactivated."

Thanks vrruumm. I realized that I forgot to ask if anyone knows if there are the latch attachments for child seats in the coupe. There should be two latch attachments at the bottom of the passenger seat and one tether attachment behind the seat.

I might just have to head back to the dealership for a test drive of this beast.

I know my Coupe def disables the passenger airbag each day as i put my computer bag on it (about 15lbs). and yes, there are latches in the boot/trunk that are for that i believe.

well I test drove the 2012 coupe that's for sale at my mini dealership, they even encouraged me to take it home for the night.

Anyways a child seat does fit, it does turn off the passenger airbags and it does have the rear tether mounting point in the hatch area. The only problem is it doesn't have the two lower anchors. This means that installing and removing the child seat will take more time.

I've also discovered SeaSucker suction cup bike mount, which means that I can still take my bikes with me when I travel, huge plus!

Decisions decisions......
