Silly Question

My wife got her new 2014 Coupe last week. She is concerned because the "P" on the shift indicator stays lit after she parks the car. Is this normal? I don't see any reference to it in the owners manual.

I know it's an old thread but I prefer to finish threads for future reference.

The P and the start stop button stay illuminated for about 16 minutes after key off. This is normal. Although u turned off the car the car needs to systematically power down control units in a particular order. This is called " putting the car to sleep".

Think about it as the same when you use the "shut down" button on your PC to power off instead of simply pulling the plug out of the wall. You don't want your PC to start in "safe mode" and neither does the MINI.

Regards.
