My eight month old coupe is sadly off the road.

She began by giving out extremely low revs on starting - barely 100-200, with no power on putting down the foot. This went away after a few minutes.

Occasionally she would belch a puff of black smoke on a cold morning.

The turbo fan would stay on for up to 10 minutes after age was switched off, even after short cool runs.

Now and again the half engine warning light would come on, then go away.

Then one day it just kept turning over but would not ignite.

Managed to limp/bunnyhop in to BMW and the verdict was thermostat - known issue. 2 parts coming from interstate, but one part coming from Germany!

And so she sits forlornly at BMW awaiting a transplant...

 

Well, can't say how impressed I am with BMW service given its my first experience. Two days later they have managed to get the parts, including the one they said was overseas, fitted them and returned the vehicle.

And given it a full detail to boot all under warranty and with a smile. Well done to Westcoast BMW!

 

What? A forum post that doesn't trash the dealer?

 

Well I could tell the story of the dealer who actually sold me the vehicle and how they might get around to look at the problem in 3wks, but I'm a glass half full kinda guy
