JCW Tuning Kit - anyone installed in their coupe?

Hey Guys!

Can't find any posts on this so here's the question -

Has anyone had the tuning kit installed in a 2012 / 2013 coupe?? I booked myself in for the kit and JCW alcantara/leather wheel next week, and I'm wondering how those who had it done like it. My main reason for the JCW vs aftermarket was the warranty (I have the 100K service plan) and the ease of install (on my part anyway!) I know it won't match a full on factory JCW, but I'm thinking it's going to be a whole lotta fun to have!

Your input is most appreciated!

Thanks,

Kurt

While you await a Coupe owner chiming in, I can regale you with tales of having the JCW Tuning Kit installed on my 2/2012 build MCS Hardtop, if that's ok?

Having now driven a "standard" MCS back-to-back with mine, the kit absolutely transforms the car. More power everywhere, low-end torque included, a 1.6-anything shouldn't be able to pull in 4th as it does. But it can. Exhaust note is perfect, and the JCW-engraved tips are a plus.

I still get 33-35mpg on my weekly commute (mostly freeway).

I couldn't buy a JCW in Ice Blue, or I might have. Instead, bought a MCS with leather-everything and nice features, *and* the tuning kit. I picked the kit over aftermarket since I, too, was going for extended warranty and didn't want any [potential] flak over claims/service.

Mine was dealer-installed before I took delivery. I PM'd another member with my drive-it-home story: I'm of the "punch it a few times in the first 100 miles to seat the rings" school of break-in tactics. So I did so on the way home, in 2nd. I kept seeing the washer fluid level light flashing as I did this. Further research: um, no, that's the traction control light, I was breaking the tires [partially] loose in 2nd when doing that. I was impressed, even if one could say that new all-season run-flats aren't particularly grippy.

Anyhow. Thought you might enjoy hearing from one very-satisfied kit owner, even if not installed on a Coupe.

pure awesomeness!

Thanks for sharing! I purposely passed on taking a tuned coupe for a spin, just so I can feel the difference myself when it's done! I look at it as my mid-life crisis event. And keep telling my wife how lucky she is I love driving my coupe (and feel no need to own a *insert name of car here*)

Since she too drives a MINI, I am confident she will approve when all is said and done! I still haven't given up on owning an original mini one day however.
