I've been preparing for several months to treat myself to a 50th birthday present this summer, finally getting the Mini I've long longed for, and when the Coupe came out, I targeted that model. Of course, I've been playing with the configurator, and had what I wanted pretty spec'ed out.

I was going with the base model with a stick. Blue. Hadn't decided on stripes; it was going to be a coin flip. 17" wheels, the cloth/leather upholstery with sport seats, Xenon lights, arm rest, and that was about it.

But a local dealer here has a blue stick Coupe with stripes not only on the lot, but on sale. They added the Bluetooth option, but the seats are "only" leatherette and it has "just" 15" wheels. But the opportunity to jump on such a good deal is, I think, worth the compromises.

What I'm wondering is, is there a possibility that the dealer, for a price, would swap out the leatherette seats for the ones that I want. I'm less needy about the leather than I am for the adjustable lumbar support that comes with it. I even had the thought of finding out of someone had ordered a Mini with the leatherette, and asking them to have the factory install my seat option, and then have the dealer swap the seats when the other one arrives.

Or might I have other options? Because I'm about to pull the trigger on the deal while it's still on the lot and the significant discount offer expires.

My experiance with Mini dealers is, if they discount you take what is offered. But it is worth a try to get them to swap out seats. You might also try to get the same deal on one you order with the exact equipment you want. Good luck
