John-

Is the AccessPort now available for the 2012 JCW's, or is it still in development? I'm very interested in this product.

I'd like to know what gains over stock JCW you'll see with the stage 1 map on the JCW Coupe? The ALTA AP is on my wish list if things look good and it'll match up with my future drivetrain mods.

Great looking Coupe BTW

Here is a dyno chart of a stage 1 JCW Vs. Stock Tuning. All the JCW's from 2009-2012 are the same so they will all see pretty much the same results.

I do have plans to tune the car on the dyno with my own secret recipe of parts so stay tuned.

Thanks for the dyno chart John. Will Alta be developing new performance parts for the Coupe/Roadsters?

Yes we will, but most of the performance parts cary over from the R56 as they are basically the same from the waist down.

Figured as much, thanks! Bernie is looking good on his new suspension Have you decided on your wheels?

Just got home after taking Bernie for his first drive with the H&R Rss coilovers. The ride quality was better than I thought it would be. Firm but far from the roughest I've had. The best thing about this modification is the reduction or almost elimination of the back and forth rocking you get on the stock suspension under braking and acceleration. This weekend should have dry roads so I can go for a more spirited drive to do more "testing".

Yes! Look great. I went with NM springs and love the ride. One day when my shocks go, if they go, I'll upgrade to coilovers. I couldn't justify the price at the time of decision.

Looking forward to hearing what you do to the Coupe over time!

Fantastic. I am amazed what a difference a good drop makes on most 2nd gen Minis. For some reason the R50/53 don't seem to ride as high. Can't wait for the wheels and tires.

Did you need camber plates and rear adjustable control arms to bring the alignment in? Also what sway bar set up?

Yes we do raise it a couple hundred RPM

To be honest, I have not aligned it yet. I just installed the coil overs, set the ride height and drove off. Alignment coming soon.

Sway bar is in the plans, I just want to do the mods one at a time so I can feel each one. It is very tempting to install everything in the warehouse all at once but I promised myself i wouldn't.

Thanks John, that brings up the question. If the rev limiter is raised then it can be detected by mini engineers and don't you run a risk of warrenty issues if you have a engine failure.

I'm sure if they are specifically looking for it. We can set the rev limiter to where ever you want it, so if you specify we'll set you up with a stock or lower limit. I've found that I dont even use the extra RPM anyway as the car starts to fall on it's face that high.

The only time you might use the extra RPM is at the track so you can hold a gear longer so you can wait to shift till you're out of the corner. It always sucks to hit the rev limiter mid corner. And if you're using the car on the track your warranty might be void anyway.

Remember even knowing the tunes are very safe, modding still has risks and potential expenses beyond just the parts and labor to install them. Thats part of the trills....

Thanks John, understand perfectly, just didn't want to have to get into custom downloads. Can you guys do it or do we go though Cobb.

All the maps go through us, but it is VERY easy, or you can get a custom tune through one of the AccesPORT tuners found on the AccessPORT page on our web site, FYI a few more are coming soon.
