Does anybody know if MINI is intentionally producing more silver roofs to promote the unique design of the coupe?

I've noticed that I see lots and lots of silver roofs but I don't see as much of black roofs. I know that red roofs are only for JCW...

For example I've never seen a R58 cooper s chili red with a black roof.
All of the chili reds I see are silver roofs.

I also asked the dealership near me and they told me that MINI isn't producing a lot of black roofs...

Any ideas or comments?

 

Hmmm, come to think of it the only black roofs I've seen on Coupe's have been on black cars. Regardless I don't know that it's MINI making those decisions but rather dealer and individual choices when orders are placed.

edited to add: Come to think of it I have seen some Chili red, spice orange and BR green Coupes with black roofs on these and other forums.

I've seen some spice orange with black roofs but never saw chili red with black. I actually never saw a BRG coupe! I actually even tried searching for BRG coupe but nothing came up... Can you remember where u saw them?

Sure but the OP is referring to spec cars which by far make up the majority of cars sold.

Dealers usually have a large lead way of what options to spec for their markets. So not sure if MINI is pushing this or this seems to be the best chose for each dealer.

 

I believe you can rack it up to Dealers choice. Mine tends to be picky about their orders on all there cars and will not order something for themselves if they think it wont look good. We have about a 60 /40 split on the black to silver roof selection. An example comes up in a discussion I had last year with the my current MA they would not order the Countryman in some colors for the lot because they just don't look right. That doesn't mean that if a customer comes in and wanted to order that combo they wouldn't it is just something they as a dealer would not do. I would take a guess someone at your dealership likes Silver roofs.

 

I believe the Couple is the first Mini where you could get the roof in a color other than black/white/body color. That may explain some of the choices offered.

 

The Clubman also has a Silver roof option.

 

The dealer will order it anyway you want. Here is mine.

 

I haven't necessarily seen them in person but mostly on this site and the Coupe FB page. PatM's Coupe and my local dealer are the only one's I've seen with red body and black roofs. Of course I've only seen 3 Coupe's on the road in person no matter what the color. One was mine and the other two were dealer cars. If I remember right there are a couple BRG Coupe's on this site but I may have seen them on the FB page. One had a silver roof and the other black.

My '06 Cooper was Space Blue with a Silver roof.

 

Rosvick check out Pat's gallery he ordered it with the champion leather with the red piping and the red JCW interior package it is really sharp, it is a great complement to the exterior. Killer Chilli

FYI if you go to Seattle Mini you can see the opposite of Pat's Mini, and Northwest Mini has a WS/CR and alot of different S combos

 

You should definitely check out the FB Coupe group. It's another good place to browse and keep up with what folks are doing. After I told you I have seen a couple BRG Coupe's (here or there) I went off to try and find them. I can't for the life of me now.

 

I think I'm probably the only person in the world who will not have a Facebook account, so the Facebook page is off limits to me.

Regardless, I had a gander at Pat's gallery, and I'm absolutely in love with that JCW! I'm now starting to wonder if I should have ordered my S in red and not white silver...? Ha!
