Production order number

Soooo, Have any of you run into this issue before? I placed an order with my MA for a 2012 JCW Coupe in eclipse grey, red roof/mirrors, and red stripes, + various other features. I received the email from my MA yesterday with the order number so I could track the MINI's progress via the owners lounge as well as the 866 phone number. When I plugged the number into the tracking are it came up with a JCW Coupe but the extrior colors were wrong and many of the interior features were missing or incorrect. I called the dealer last night and he said it should change in a day or two to the correct features, color, etc.

I called the 866 # this afternoon to see if anything had changed and it had gone from what the website was saying as "on order" to the automated voice telling me "scheduled for production". I clicked over to talk to a human and she told me the same thing. It's scheduled for production but she couldn't give me any details as to the features, etc.

Obviously this has me concerned since I know once something has been schedule for production changes cannot be made. I'm hoping my MA is correct and that it will in fact change to the correct car and I hate to keep calling him. I suppose I'd hate to get the wrong car worse though

My first venture into getting a Mini hasn't been the slickest so far. I just want to know all is well so I can move on to eagerly awaiting this graet little car!

Apologies for the rant. Hoping some of you folks have seen the same issue in the past ie. website not reading reality!

I don't think scheduled for production and in production are the same thing. You can technically change things up until the car is in production if you MA is willing. Wait another day to check if the system has caught up and you can see the updates. Alternatively ask the MA to send you a screen shot of the order w/ options listed. Have you looked at the FAQ posting about tracking your MINI?

I can't access owners lounge from Canada so I have to hope my MA got it right... I will find out next week if the car I ordered shows up in the wrong colour

BTW - Eclipse Grey with Red Roof - Nice colour choice

Production Order Number

It can take several days before the website updates to the correct specifications. Your dealer had a production slot that they modified to your specs. What you are seeing is before car was modified.

Ask your MA what is the week of production. We are in week 46 this week. Your order is status 111 when production number assigned - 112 status is the last you can make changes. After status is 150 you can not modify.

My salesman told me that it would take a while before it was posted correctly on the site, he told me not to be concerned with it. I checked today just out of curiousity and it was listed as a Spice Orange coupe, not Eclipse Gray. Im glad he warned me or Id be on the phone as you were trying to get answers

I had a similar situation (I changed an order while it was scheduled for production)... the MA entered the info, i received confirmation from him, but the site has not updated. I spoke to Cust Svc today and they said this is not uncommon and as long as i have confirmation from the MA, I am fine.

This is actually good news because it means that you got a dealer production slot that is sooner than it would have been if you got the next one on the list. The oinfo you're seeing is the description of the car that formally had that slot. As others have said, it will update in a couple of days. I freaked out when I saw this too.

OK Good deal! Thanks from all of you for the insight. Yes, it freaked me out big time when I saw it. Since making my initial post I did talk with my MA who verified everything is OK and on track and that it will update in a day or so. As Chaswyck said I have their production slot which now makes sense since my MA had told me I was getting the only JCW slot the Dealer had at the moment.

I cannot wait for this car to arrive and watching it wind it's way to me is pretty cool stuff even if there are snags along the way. Thanks again for your input folks! Greatly appreciated!

Yup, just relax!! It's going to be long wait. But worth it. The Mini system will drive you nuts if you let it. I would just concentrate on saying hummmm hummmmmm hummmmmmm.

There are many times during this process which are likely to cause a little stress. Sometimes I think we are overloaded with information about the production process that our Minis go through. I wouldn't change it but it can drive you crazy along the way.

Surprise surprise! Checked the owners lounge again this evening and there it was. The exact specs I ordered. Thanks for easing my mind with all your input and experiences! This site is invaluable!

TV, glad your specs are showing up correct now, whew!

If there's one tidbit of advice I can pass on that I learned by ordering my 2012 hatch, is that looking back I would make myself enjoy the process instead of letting myself stress over it like I did. Like Cred mentioned, there are lots of stressful points in this journey, but once you get your car, all those worries will disappear in a flash. In retrospect, the stress I put on myself worrying over every little detail wasn't worth it, because everything worked out flawlessly, and I have my dream car! Just know that in a relatively short while, the fun you will be having will greatly exceed any worries you thought you had.

In the meantime, plan some mods, and practice your waving techniques, and certainly don't stress out, enjoy it!

Good luck!
Jon

For anyone ordering a car, it's VERY important to check your car's specs on the OL very carefully. My MA forgot to put the black roof/mirrors on the order sheet and if I hadn't caught it myself, I would have waited eight weeks only to get al all Spice Orange car! I think I would have jumped from the nearest overpass! As it turned out, but the time I realized the error (and by the time he responded to me) that car had already gotten a VIN so the MA had to put in a whole new order. The interesting thing is that both cars made in onto the same ship so they will both arrive at the dealer on the same truck. It will be interesting to see what my car would have looked like without the black roof/mirrors (I'm sure I won't like it, but if I do, I have the option of taking whichever car I like better since they're otherwise identical).

LOL, I hear that!

As noted in another thread I went through a similar situation. Incorrect specs as well as some I had forgotten. Of course it was too late to make changes so I re-ordered. Ended up jumping from an S Coupe to a JCW (which is what I really wanted all along). I got all the features I wanted and added one that in hindsight I wish I'd had added to the original order.

As Chaswyck stated. CHECK your specs! I'm very laid back to deal with but I'm a stickler for detail and promptness! As far as I'm concerned I'm spending $30,000+ for something so I expect it to be exactly what I ordered.

Yes, just because it was on the order sheet you signed at the dealership doesn't mean it got entered into the computer that way.
