I have been wondering if there is any published information on how many coupes are coming into the US and Canada in 2012. I have heard the numbers may be small on some of the coupe models but that was from a MA who was trying to sell me on a car. Any info?

 

I heard all the dealerships are getting 3 models for their lots..

1 Coupe
1 Coupe S
1 Coupe JCW


Then they are getting like 3 orders per dealership for custom orders. And that was it. So like less than 1000 I bet.

 

Spoke to my sales manager last Wednesday. They are only getting one Cooper and two S Coupes.

 

Yikes! I was aiming to have my S arrive around April so my first ever MINI miles wouldn't be on crummy winter roads. I'd better order soon, I sure don't want to wait until the 2013 model lol. I haven't been in touch with a dealer yet, I guess I should see about putting down enough deposit to reserve a S. I'm about in the middle of 3 MINI dealers so that should help.

 

My dealership shows 2 Cooper Coupes, 3 MCS Coupes, and only my JCW Coupe on their inventory/order printout. Half were spoken for the last time I checked.

 

My MA said each dealership should get between 2 and 4 a month. For September, they had 4 slots. (1 reg, 2 S, 1 JCW). Next month, they only have TWO slots. They only have the slot for the regular left.

 

With the shortage of cars on MINI lots period my bet is the Coupes the dealer gets would be used for demo only. Then if a customer wants one they will have to order just like in the early days. It would be hard for most people to by a car if they can't take a test drive. I consider myself a special case. Having now seen the car at the dealer I am glad I ordered early so I don't have to fight with the limited # of production slots the dealer will have for this car.

 

I'm confused whether the limits per dealer are per month or for the model year? Either way I should contact the local dealer soon.

I'll be ordering an S, not trying to buy one of the dealer/demo coupes, I don't want a lot of options, but am picky about which ones my car does have.

 

My numbers were for the year - That is what I heard. Apparently these are limited this year.
