Does anyone know what the brackets highlighted in red are ? I have covered them up with stuff in the trunk, but have not noticed an issue lowering/raising the top ( that I recall ) .... Note - not my car, as I borrowed the photo from a NAM posting on molding

 

Pretty sure they're LATCH connectors for a child carseat?
Alternatively could likely be used as cargo tie-downs?

 

Are they in the hardtop?

 

Mine's an R57 too, so I couldn't say.

 

I have not seen them in photos of the trunks of r56s ...

Our trunk is a bit smaller and I am sizing for kicker subwoofer ( down fire ) that looks it might just fit, but if need be - installed can grind these off if I need the extra few inches

 

Those are also in the back of my Clubman. I always thought they were cargo tie downs, as my trunk net is latched to them. But the comment about child seat latch points makes more sense.

 

Thanks all - I had a couple people message me direct and seems they are just tie downs - with one person saying for baby seat. But these things appear in both the front and back of the trunk. The ones in the front have two sets, the ones in the back one .... so I believe they are both tie downs and baby seat downs
