Was cleaning the windows last night and noticed the front window pillar was warped and there is a large gap at the top. Have any of you ever seen this happen? This is a new one for me.
Nope. I'm wondering if it has anything to do with the tops locking mechanism. But it doesn't seem to have any direct physical contact with it, at least I can't tell from the outside.
I know they have to remove those pillar trims when windshield is replaced so I thought maybe it was a damage from that but since you never had windshield replaced, it looks like it just warped from the sun.
I say take it to the dealership, they'll probably replace it under warranty.
I had the same problem on the passenger side. They replaced a clip or two at the dealer under warranty. It still doesn't fit as well as the one on the driver side. I wonder if you lean on the pillar real hard if it could break a clip. I have no idea how mine broke. The car was only a couple of months old when it happened.
Production issues maybe with installation on the R57's? I know the R57 have that upper rubber stripe that can get in the way on install if you dont watch, looks like it might have caught a little bit of it on the front.
I had that on the car on just bought (windshield was replaced at some point) and the cover literally flew off on me at 110mph on the freeway...scares the crap out of you as it hit the drivers side window and sounded like a gun shot.
replaced it with the new part from mini along with the foam cover under it and snaps and even the new one is a little bowed out at the top.
my advice would be to fix it now before you too get the crap scared out of you when it flys off and hits the window lol

Yes, and if you bang the flat of your hand on it, trying to get it to re-seat, it'll crack right down the middle. TIL this past weekend.
Thanks everyone for posting, search results brought me right here... part now ordered.
