R57 2009 Window problem: Initialize vs software update
2009 Window problem: Initialize vs software update
Hello all-
I have a 2009 Mini w/ the window problem everyone seems to have- the auto up/down feature. I decided to take it to the dealer and $120 later my window was 'initalized' and I was also told that I needed a software update. Although I felt a little burned shelling out $120 and then being told I needed to come back, the window was working fine.
No problems since this weekend. I went away for a few days...valet garaged it and when I got my car back, the window started acting up. I have read that the car can lose its memory and make the windows flake out. I'm not sure it the garage ppl left my fob in place all weekend...hence my window problem. I tried the self initializing w/out luck.
Has anyone else been told this at their dealer? Read about memory?

Okay a question here. How many miles does your 2009 car have on it. If it is less than 50K you should not be paying to have an initialization or software update done. The car is still under warranty. Of course if you are over 50K mile then yes you would have to pay for it.
Also you may want to check out the Mods>Electrical Section. there is a way to fix this problem there with a computer and some software but beware of what you are doing as it can totally screw the car up to if not done correctly. See the NCS Expert threads.
