In 2 years have 32k miles already should I get the extended service plan to cover all maintenance costs? or is it a waste? I know mini nickels and dimes you unlike the BMW warranty. TIA

I don't think the convertible gets any extra coverage in the wear and tear categories. I could be wrong but I would look at some of the recent threads form other to see if it is worth it for you. For me it is not as I like doing my own work on brakes and oil changes, but it needs to work for you.
I do my own oil changes etc. so i think I will just get the extended warranty not service since its a lot they don't do like tranny fluid and fuel filters.

If you are looking for warranty coverage for the convertible top, read the details carefully. From what I learned 2 years ago: No warranties will cover the fabric, only the high-priced ones cover the electronics and some only cover the mechanicals.
Best to make sure top is checked and anything that needs attention is taken care of just before regular warranty expires. Then be very careful and remember to clean and treat the fabric 2x a year.

It made sense for us to get it. Cost is cheaper if purchased before 36K miles or 3yrs is up...$1995 for 6 yrs and 100K ...which ever comes first. loaner vehicle when you are in for maintenance is included.

Before any decision is made, you will need to review the scheduled maintenance for your MINI and look at what is covered in the Maintenance Plan. For example, if you needed brakes what would that cost? I know you can get your maintenance done elsewhere at a lower cost but??? If you change your oil let's say every 7500 miles then you will only get 1 included oil change per year. It's all a decision on comfort level and $$$$$ Good lucky with your decision.

Are you talking extended maintenance -or- extended warranty? 'cause $1995 is a lot of money.Originally Posted by Derepente

1995 is for the extended maintenance. That is why I tell people to review the required maintenance on the MINI and get a price for the maintenance and then figure out whether it is worth it. That is something that I haven't done yet. I did extend my warranty through Fidelity for about 2200.
