Sirius/XM antenna install HELP!

I have a 2010 Cabrio and I need to install a satellite radio antenna.. Is there a hidden factory antenna lead somewhere? If not where the best place to route this magnet style antenna that came with the Onyx XM portable I want to install. I am new at this forum thing so go easy on me!

Can't help you with your question but I'm new here too and see that you're in Miami. Figured I'd give a shout out to a fellow Miami Mini driver.

I'm planning to install the Sirius factory retrofit kit but in doing my research I saw where someone hooked power and antenna to the connectors found under the carpet under the front passenger seat.

I got a great deal on a 2010 R57 without sat. radio. Called Sirius, got a reciever and all the wires for $20. I have the factory sat reciver in my 11 R55.

I just ran the antenna from center console up under right side of dash and between the windshield and dash, double back taped to dash in the middle. Don't even notice it. Works perfect.

So... you didn't use the factory sat antenna that is already on your car?

Is there a chance my car might have the Sat antenna hidden under the carpet? I have a 2010 and there is no box under the passenger seat.

I just don't want to buy a cable and have it become part of the 'never needed, never used' stack of stuff in my garage.

there is no box....get in under the carpet around the vent that's there and you'll see a lead terminating with a connection.....by a cable to run from that to the reciever

What is the easiest way to get under the carpet? Is it removing the seat (as stated in other threads)

I don't think there is a vent on my car (I have a cabrio)

Maybe I should check local forums to see if there is anyone willing to help with the DIY. I am bit of a newb with regards to these things.

take a look under you passenger seat....you should see a small vent about 4 inches long and half inch high (don't see why they shouldn't be in the cabrio) ......"lift" the carpeting around the vent and you will be able to see the lead......I had to practically hang upside down in the passenger seat to be able to do this.....but...it beats taking the seat out and it is much quicker. Don't forget to check out the thread in number 4 above.....
