The OEM RunFLats are history

I always planned on replacing my OEM RunFlats when they wore out, but yesterday this thing impaled itself in my LR tire.

So with 10,000 miles on them, rather than buy a new matching RunFlat which I don't even want, I bought a set of Yokohama AVID ENVigor. I sure hope they are as good a tire as billed.

If anyone would like my 3 old tires - which I highly doubt - let me know.

I'm thinking of ditching my run flats also. I'm curious as what size tire you went with and what kind of difference in handling and ride did you notice?

I like the OEM size - 195/55 R16 - so that's what I went with, although I did consider 205. I don't get it back till Monday so I'll let you know.

I thought the same thing ...nasty. How did that pierce your tire? There is no real sharp ends or edges...

I really have no idea what the thing is or how it stood up and pierced my tire.

But...I now have a few days and miles on the new tires and I really like them. I do think there is a perceptible difference in ride quality - for the better - and my wife agrees. She is not so happy though with the fact I think it I can take the curves even faster now. The tires, on familiar curves, seem much stickier whereas the runflats had a point they would tend to break loose into a 4-wheel drift. For some reason, my wife doesn't like that

Go to an autocross. It is inexpensive and you can find your limit in a safe environment without torturing your spouse.
