So I've found one more weird thing with the Mini.

If you have the HD Radio option, you can't set the actual HD tuned stations (either HD1 or HD2) in your presets, only the analog station.

For example, I can't set 94.9HD1 or 94.9HD2 in any of the presets. If I try, it just saves 94.9. Then when I select that pre-set, it automatically tuns to 94.9 analog, then it will switch to the HD1 version of the analog channel if there is one, but it will never switch to HD2. I have to then go to MANUAL tuning, and press the RIGHT button on the actual head unit to make it switch to HD2.

It feels like the HD Radio was an afterthought, and not really something they wanted to make sure is truely usable.

 

Kinda makes me glad I didn't order it.

Then again it might be one of those secret Mini things you just haven't figured out yet, like the auto-fold mirrors...I am still waiting on that answer.

 

So, I spent more time reading the other forums on NAM, and I found that in the 2008 and 2009 hardtop, they brought up the same issue with the HD Radio, can't tune into the HD1 and HD2 digital streams unless you go to manual mode, and can't save the HD1 or HD2 as presets, only the analog channel. This appears to be a limitiation on some 3rd party HD Radio receivers as well, however the JVC one can save only the HD1 stream in it's preset, and not the HD2.

I sent an email to ask Mini to see if this is something that could be added to the next software rev. I highly doubt it, but it's worth a try.

Let's see how they respond.
