nothing in particular, I was just wondering if you had any other angles, just to get a better sense of what the blue housed headlights look like. I'm very interested.

I'm thinking of doing a mix between a blue and black joey mod with some detailed tape work, yours looks awesome though.

Well it's about time I post a picture of "SeaBass" here to the Laser Blue O.C. I picked it up from Classic MINI almost a month ago [already!], and have been busy piling on the miles and the mods.

Without further adieu:

SeaBass is riding on KW Variant 1 coilovers with Rota RB 17x7.5 & Sumitomo HTR ZIII 215/45-17.

Cheers,
Ryan

Your "SeaBass" has got to be the most stunning laser blue MINI I have seen to date. Seeing yours confirms I made the right decision...

I only wish I had a clue how to do the mods to be able to make it look like yours. I have read so much on these threads about the lowering springs but don't have a clue how to find someone reliable to install. If you have any insight, it would be appreciated... again SWEET MINI!

Kelly, I bought my H&R Sports from TireRack along with my wheels/tires. They recommended an installer in my area and it worked out quite well!

Thanks for the info Tony. Its good to see the laser blue thread come back to life again and your Mini is certainly a nice addition.
That's good to know about Tire Rack making reccomendations for local installers because I will probably be getting my wheels and tires from them in the spring.
My Mini will be delivered in 2 weeks and I was initially going to get lowering springs and new shoes right away but after having waaayyyy too long to think about it, I have decided to drive with the oem wheels and tires through the winter and wait until spring to make the changes.
How is the ride with the H&R springs compared with the oem set up?

Hi Kelly,

If you're sensitive to road bumps, I honestly wouldn't recommend the H&Rs: there is definitely a compromise in ride comfort with these installed. I came from an E36 M3, so I'm used to harsher-than-most-people-can-handle rides.

Anyway, it's up to you whether or not the compromise in comfort is worth the drop in height. I think it is - there is a bit more fun in the seat-of-my-pants sense due to the lower center of gravity, and I just love the way the springs have gotten rid of the wheel gap. You can look at my before&afters here to get a good feel of what the drop will do:

https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...0&postcount=33

You may want to do some research into Eibachs and other brands that NAM members have been using before making a decision.

HTH,
Tony

That is exactly why I decided not to rush the lowering springs right away. I want to get used to the feel of the car and see what the ride is like before I start modding. I love the look of the Mini's lowered (I already have an SUV, don't need my Mini looking like an SUV ) but Pittsburgh's roads are unforgiving.
I've read/looked at the entire lowered mini's thread but I don't know a coilover from a spring nor do I know the first thing about installing... what can I say-I"m a girl. What I do know is I love the look, just not sure if I'm ready to compromise the ride yet and to what extent.
Thanks for your input and again, great job on the changes!

NP, Kelly. From my experience, the only people that seem to notice wheelgap are car freaks like us. Of course, I'm a neurotic headcase marinating in a vat of OCD, so I absolutely must kill the curse of the wheelgap!

Regarding springs vs. coilovers, unless you're going to be doing auto-x or track events every weekend, coilovers are definitely overkill for you. There are a ton of threads regarding suspension upgrades here - I would definitely read over all of them before diving in. For city driving, I would go with lowering springs (again, if you can tolerate the ride compromise) and thicker swaybars (which will 'flatten' out your car as it leans into turns) to give you more bang for the buck.

As for being a girl, I can't help you with that, sorry. In fact I'm jealous that you can go get a mani-pedi without having to look over your shoulder for co-workers

Here's mine. I plan on getting the new TSW springs as soon as there available, then she will be done.

I just found out that my Laser Blue 2009 MCS has started production today (10/01/08). I'm looking forward to posting pics of my new MINI sometime in November. All the pics here are just absolutely gorgeous and help feed my need for MINI day in and out.

Forgot to repost after taking delivery of Bernard.... lots of pics in the gallery. Just passed the magic 1200 mile mark and LOVE the bright color!
Impossible to be in a bad mood when you walk up to that brilliant blue!

gbsim,

You picked a great color combo I think the silver works great. So how much more fun are you having now that Bernard is broken in?

Today was my third day of ownership and about 175miles and having fun.

berto,

The wait is most definitely worth it. I wish I had a car like a Mini when I was stationed in Denver, the mountains would have been even more fun.

Welcome the the Laser Blue club.

Will be picking up my 08 Laser Blue MCS tomorrow. Heavily optioned. FActory Aero kit, automatic, premium, convenience, cold weather, body color roof and mirrors, white turn signals, crown spoke wheels, xenon headlamps, rear fog lamps, arm rest, punch carbon leather, chrome line interior, anthracite headliner, HiFi stereo, alarm system. I got them to add the ipod adapter in the secret compartment and clearshield.

I didn't order the car, but this was pretty much how I would have ordered it anyway.

Mine will be a S with the White Top, 17' Crown Spokes, Most of the Sports Package, Cold Weather, Cloth & Leather Sport Seats with the Blue bolsters, Blue line interior, brushed alloy dash, Center arm rest, Multi function leather wheel, full front clear bra, IPOD thing etc.

I am a Little British Car nut with 3 MG-B's and a TR-6 in the fleet but I am looking forward to a 'modern car' and cant wait to spin it through the mountains.

My trip to the Arctic in my laser blue R56 Cooper S. We drove from the UK through France, Belgium, Germany, Denmark, Sweden, Finland & Norway up to Nordkapp (the furthest point North in mainland Europe) for Leukaemia Research.

Driving through the Autumn colours in Sweden

Crossing the Arctic Circle

Near Norkapp

A in the Lofoten Islands, Norway

On the Trollstigen Road in the clouds

How it all ended - half way up a mountain the alternator gave up and caught fire. Notice the 'Park Lane' wheel which we carried as a spare and used when I damaged the tyre after hitting a pothole in Norway.

More photos here
