CooperFlags sells the magnetic badges, and they MAY sell sticker versions, too. I know some of the badge vendors do, anyway.

Good luck... and welcome to the OB Club

Well, I got a chance to wash the car and drive it down the street for some updated pics with the JCW Grill and Build-a-Badge (with Sunshine MINIs magnetic badge, currently):

There are several more photos on my Flickr account, if you click on the pics.

LOVE IT!

FWIW there was an Oxygen Blue classic Mini in the Targa Newfoundland a while back, I froze the DVR and went and got my wife (her MINI is OB) to show her.

IIRC it did pretty well, like 2nd in class!

What a great find from Flickr! I would love to have that classic MINI!

Thanks... I like it too

BTW, it's incredibly easy to swap and relatively inexpensive, too.

I was thinking the same thing. It would be a great garage-mate for our OB R56's.

That is one nice mini Blainestang! I might have to switch my grill in my chili red like you did.

Very nice pictures!

Sorry to whine again but I'm just a tad upset.
Basil threw another engine code on me. Just got him back from service 10 days ago! He's driving fine ATM though. Gonna get a code reader and see what it says tonight... Oyyyyy....

Thanks... And like I said before, the grill swap is relatively easy and cheap, so that makes it even better.

There are how-to's around for swapping the grill, but I took pictures while I was doing it in order to make one. Maybe I'll load my photos onto my Flickr account and add descriptions to them that describe the steps.

AgentCOOPER: Sorry to hear of your continuing troubles with Basil. I wonder if it's a similar problem as last time? BTW, most "Advance Auto Parts"-type places will read your codes for free if you want to avoid buying your own reader. Good luck!

Good heads-up on the code reader Blainstang. I didn't know that.

AgentCOOPER, I hope this gets resolved for you soon, once and for all!

As far as I know, that's pretty standard, but one could always call in advance to make sure.

Yes, went to AutoZone near my house an they found the code to be this: P1062 fuel air metering control.
So dad and I did a bunch of "diagnostic" things like revving in neutral and turning on all the accessories to see if that would help earlier. Success. The cel is no longer illuminated and the car is driving fine again. Here's to hoping he's fine... Woo...

That would be great if you could! Im a visual person, so seeing the process would be very helpful

Glad he's working and that the light is no longer on. Any idea what the actual problem was or what "fixed" it?

Yeah, pictures are always nice. I'll work on that. I'm also planning to do a how-to for a Cooper-specific oil change and installing the Checkerboard dash (or any other dash, for that matter). I just haven't gotten around to doing any of them, yet.

As promised, the How-To for installing a JCW Grill on your R56 Cooper:

(Click the Pic)

Constructive criticism on details, spelling/grammar, etc, is greatly appreciated. I've already done it, so the instructions make perfect sense to me.

What matters is that they make sense to someone who HASN'T done it before, though.

Awesome write-up Blaine!! I had looked Molly over to see what it would take to R&R the Grill, but I can't bring myself to do "Surgery" on my Baby...SO I'll have the Dealer do it!!

Thanks... and I understand your reservations. At one time, I felt the same way, but once you start doing stuff yourself (with good instructions, of course), you wonder why you haven't been doing it all along because it's surprisingly easy

I did put a British Flag/Finish Flag on her Boot just below and to the right of the "Cooper" and I really like the way it L@@KS!! That's about the extent of my Mods., but who know's I may get up the Nerve to do more.

Blainestang, thanks much for the tutorial on the grille replacment. Pics and text go together like hand and glove. Hopefully my hands won't fumble when I get to that stage.

You're welcome. I've done quite a few modifications myself on my cars at this point, including swapping heads and cam on one of my Mustangs, but I can relate to the people who are nervous about trying to do things yourself because I was there several years ago. Point being, I may have never have started doing my own modifications if it weren't for clear, complete instructions, so I want to document the things I do with this car to hopefully help other people out with doing their own mods and building their confidence to do so.

I should be doing one for a Cooper-specific Oil Change soon (which saves me $50 labor at the MINI dealer every time), possibly one for dash trim panels, and whenever I do suspension (or anything else), that will follow, too.

Oh, and thanks for the positive remarks. If there's anything unclear, let me know.

Blainestang, AWESOME tutorial on the grille swap - that's exactly how I did mine, and I didn't have any instructions ahead of time (and I was one of those who scratched my bumper, and learned about the painters tape the hard way)...

The only other tip I would add, and this worked for me but may not work for others, is that I put the lower chrome trim on the JCW grille first, then snapped the whole thing into place - other wise, the chrome trim didn't sit right on the grille when I put it on after the grille was in place first (did that make sense?)

Another benefit to the JCW grille other than looking better than the stock one is better breathing - I installed mine right before summer, and noticed immediately that my fan didn't run as much after shut down than it did with the stock grille...food for thought!
