R56 Official Oxygen Blue Owners Club
Good luck... and welcome to the OB Club
FWIW there was an Oxygen Blue classic Mini in the Targa Newfoundland a while back, I froze the DVR and went and got my wife (her MINI is OB) to show her.
IIRC it did pretty well, like 2nd in class!
Analogeezer
I'm with Analogeezer (glad to know you're still with us too!)--Love your pics Blainestang! Your MINI looks great! The more I see that JCW grille, the more I like it with the O2Blue...hmmm...
What a great find from Flickr! I would love to have that classic MINI!

BTW, it's incredibly easy to swap and relatively inexpensive, too.
I was thinking the same thing. It would be a great garage-mate for our OB R56's.
Very nice pictures!
Sorry to whine again but I'm just a tad upset.
Basil threw another engine code on me. Just got him back from service 10 days ago! He's driving fine ATM though. Gonna get a code reader and see what it says tonight... Oyyyyy....

There are how-to's around for swapping the grill, but I took pictures while I was doing it in order to make one. Maybe I'll load my photos onto my Flickr account and add descriptions to them that describe the steps.
AgentCOOPER: Sorry to hear of your continuing troubles with Basil. I wonder if it's a similar problem as last time? BTW, most "Advance Auto Parts"-type places will read your codes for free if you want to avoid buying your own reader. Good luck!
Yes, went to AutoZone near my house an they found the code to be this: P1062 fuel air metering control.
So dad and I did a bunch of "diagnostic" things like revving in neutral and turning on all the accessories to see if that would help earlier. Success. The cel is no longer illuminated and the car is driving fine again. Here's to hoping he's fine... Woo...

[quote=Blainestang;2979001]Thanks... And like I said before, the grill swap is relatively easy and cheap, so that makes it even better.

That would be great if you could! Im a visual person, so seeing the process would be very helpful

Yeah, pictures are always nice. I'll work on that. I'm also planning to do a how-to for a Cooper-specific oil change and installing the Checkerboard dash (or any other dash, for that matter). I just haven't gotten around to doing any of them, yet.
As promised, the How-To for installing a JCW Grill on your R56 Cooper:

Constructive criticism on details, spelling/grammar, etc, is greatly appreciated. I've already done it, so the instructions make perfect sense to me.
What matters is that they make sense to someone who HASN'T done it before, though.

"IT COULD HAPPEN!!"
I should be doing one for a Cooper-specific Oil Change soon (which saves me $50 labor at the MINI dealer every time), possibly one for dash trim panels, and whenever I do suspension (or anything else), that will follow, too.
Oh, and thanks for the positive remarks. If there's anything unclear, let me know.
Blainestang, AWESOME tutorial on the grille swap - that's exactly how I did mine, and I didn't have any instructions ahead of time (and I was one of those who scratched my bumper, and learned about the painters tape the hard way)...
The only other tip I would add, and this worked for me but may not work for others, is that I put the lower chrome trim on the JCW grille first, then snapped the whole thing into place - other wise, the chrome trim didn't sit right on the grille when I put it on after the grille was in place first (did that make sense?)
Another benefit to the JCW grille other than looking better than the stock one is better breathing - I installed mine right before summer, and noticed immediately that my fan didn't run as much after shut down than it did with the stock grille...food for thought!
