Ouch, Dory!
I'm glad you at least got the note.
I did that once in a grocery store parking lot. Watched someone hit a car and take off. I reported it to the police.
About a year later I applied for a job there and guess who it was with? Right! The guy whose car got hit. I got the job.
I hope she is perfect again soon!

In other news, I just ordered this for Lucy. It should go nicely with the Tuscan interior.

Will do!
The instructions say that the existing one has to be pulled very hard straight up to remove it. And he recommends opening your sunroof if you have one so you don't accidentally break it.
I may get help with this one!

Nice wannab! You'll be flyin' through the gears in no time. I too look forward to seeing the pics. From what I've read, some shift **** installs seem to go pretty smoothly and others are a bear. Hope yours is the former...

Well, our MINI has joined Dory's on the Injured List....

My wife hit a deer this morning. She's fine, so that's what really matters, but it sounds like the MINI took a beating.

Sounds like new hood, new front bumper, new driver's side front fender, and new driver's side rear quarter panel. :(

I'll try to add pics once I actually see it (it's at the parent's house).

Blainstang--that is a bummer! As you said, most important that your wife is OK (and maybe the MINI had something positive to do with that).

Sounds like the deer did a full-body wrap off the MINI, but missed the door? In any event, hope you get fixed up and look good as new soon!

Yeah, somehow it hit the front, missed the door, and then hit in front of the rear wheel.

I just saw it now, finally. The hood is toast (creased, etc), the front bumper (fascia) is probably going to need replaced, and there's definitely a crease in the rear quarter somehow.

One question I've got. Since they've got to replace the hood anyway, what are the chances I can get them to replace it with a Dooper hood?

I really prefer the shape of the S/Dooper hoods, but of the two, I prefer the scoopless Dooper hood. I don't know if that's something doable or something the dealer can get or not.

Well figure my first post might as well be here I pick up my new MC OB/B MCSW tomorrow. Yep thats right. No options other than MCSW. My DD is a 2001 Z06 Corvette that is now over 100k miles and I had intended to trade it in on a new Vette until I found out the trade in value. Came up with the idea of buying a Mini and using it as my DD and keeping the Z 06 as a weekend car. Walked on the lot today and found my poor neglected new car all the way in the back of the lot. Unloved and unwanted because it had no real options. Always a sucker for the underdog I had to get him.

And so at noon I will pick him up. The funny thing is the driving position in the MC is very close to that of the Z 06. I was comfortable immediately in the MC. This is going to be very cool! 19.5 K OTD for a new car...wow! Good times ahead!

Oh nooo! Not another injury =( At least your wife was okay.

Oh, and welcome z06! You're gonna love it.

But my baby gets all prettied up on Monday! I finally got a time set for going to the dealer and getting his Union Jack roof/mirrors and white bonnet stripes put on. He's gonna be so handsome ~

z06--welcome to the club! Your MINI sounds great. Our local dealer hosted a rally last weekend in part to honor the 50th year of the MINI. Ironically, we had one Mini and 49 MINIs show up! Of the 50 cars, only two OBs (and the second one didn't roll in until minutes before the start). As you have already discovered, the MINI is a blast to drive and there's just not that many OBs out there (but I have found 'em in some of the darndest places). Of all the options, the MFSW (?--or do I have the wrong option?) is one of my favorites. I didn't get a whole lot of 'em, but that one is one I am really glad I went for! Anyway--congratulations on the whole darn package!

blainestang--sorry again for your MINI's injury. Other than the rear quarter panel, your situation sums up to be essentially what I needed done after tedcar rolled out. I don't know about the Dooper hood (whether it's doable) but hopefully your body shop can fix you up good as new. I have now gotten used to the fact that tedscar had to go in for surgery. Though it still makes me cringe a bit, it's back to its original shape and is still a blast to drive. Good luck with the repairs!

Well here he is. Another OB/B hits the streets. I would have posted pics earlier but had to rack up 120 miles this evening! This is going to be fun! Poor guy had sat in a mall here and has a few bumps from that but they will be fixed easily and the price was adjusted accordingly. Poor guy had been sitting there for 6 months before I rescued him.

Aww, such a lovely little guy too! I know I would've snagged him right off. Great choice though.

That seems like a fitting name for such a 'cute little duffer' as my 90 year-old neighbor called my MINI.

Not *exactly* what I wanted...

But apparently the dealership ordered the wrong roof graphic. Had to have it put off until July 13th. :( Oh well.. he doesn't look *too* bad without it... right?

Right?

I actually like the OB/OB color, BUT I would not have accepted a car that was not to MY specs. Yes...I'm that picky!!

Oh, I'm very happy with the car. He's got all I wanted and then some. The colour isn't what bothers me at all.
I was supposed to get a Union Jack roof decal put on too, but they ordered the wrong one (for a white roof) so I have to have him taken BACK to the dealer (~200 mile drive) to get it put on at a later date.

I guess I misunderstood what you did not like about the car. So are they going to re-paint the roof and install the British Flag Roof Decal at no charge??!!

Nah, it would be nice if they would though. They're re-making the roof decal to be custom for my roof and reapplying it at no charge.
